Puppetmaster

Here is my submission for this week’s 100 word Friday Fictioneers photo prompt! This week our host Rochelle has submitted one of her own photos. Here goes!

Garvin stood back, admiring his collection. A toy car, a pram – he had spent years gathering these trinkets, though none held any meaning for him.

Anyone who had ever hurt him, anyone who’d treated him like dirt – he’d stolen something of great sentimental value to them. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, none had known the power running through his veins.

The power to control others.

Where to start… yes! He fetched the photograph belonging to the boy who’d treated him like a slave at school and began to chant.

Now it was Garvin’s turn to be the Puppetmaster.

Funny you should say that – in response to a “reader request” I’ve written quite a dark piece (in my head), for release soon! I’ve already drawn a (reasonably spooky) DraliDoodle for it to set the scene, now all I need is to get the words out of my head and onto the computer!

Yeah, and he probably got teased over his name too. I wouldn’t want to be the teasers now. They’re screwed 😉

Very dark, I hope he learns to use his powers for the better soon!

I hope so – evidently he’s held out this long so maybe once he’s dabbled a bit in the “dark side” he’ll turn back to the light.
Or at least a lighter shade of grey 🙂

They say ‘what goes around comes around’. Looks like this guy’s the one who can make it happen. Nice one.

    Hey Mr. Draliman,

I think being the seventh son of a seventh son also helps pick winning lottery tickets. Once he runs out of enemies he should work on making friends. Good story.

If he finds he can pick the winning numbers I’m sure he’ll gather a huge number of “friends” very quickly!

I read yours – I thought it worked well, I understood what was happening!
It was very hard to fit into 100 words this week. I had to ditch a lot of content in order to get enough in to make it obvious what was going on.

Thank you so much! Garvin’s not standing by idly any longer – no more doormat.
It had to be tight, I seriously ran out of words and had to edit it to bits :-). I guess that’s the beauty of a 100 word challenge.

I’m not sure how I feel about revenge. Most people would jump at the chance but possibly feel quite bad about it afterwards.

The pain of the past often brings us to the point of desiring retribution.

Very true. Let’s hope that Garvin doesn’t take it too far though. I think he just wants to humiliate them a bit, as they did him.

Yes, you could be right. He has been ill-treated for so long and by so many the last of his sanity has fled, and now all that’s left is his thirst for revenge…
