“Wow, that’s amazing! The colours are so vivid. It’s like being there!”
“What’s that?”
“Your hanging glass decoration thing. With the dolphin. It’s like being there! Wait, where’d the dolphin go?”
“Oh, that. That’s not a picture, it’s a portal. I expect the dolphin swam off.”
“For real? A portal? Wow, is there nothing they can’t do nowadays?”
“It’s actually quite old, as a matter of fact.”
“Cool. I’m gonna stick my hand through. I can feel the sea!”
“Watch out for the…”
“Aaargh!”
“…sharks.”
“Aaargh!”
“Hey, point your arm stump some place else. This suit is dry clean only!”

Always think twice before sticking your hands in strange portals. I’m thinking the owner displayed the correct amount of sympathy toward such a foolish action 🙂 Great story!

The guy who stuck his hand in did seem to be displaying quite a blasé attitude toward something so out of the ordinary!

Whew! At least Captain Hook didn’t drag the shark through the portal with him, or things might have really gotten hairy!

Give a little story a go – you might surprise yourself. Or is it a case of “been there, tried that”?
I’m also quite an avid reader (though I’m not quite that fast!). I’m currently re-reading a load of books until I get my finances sorted out – constantly buying stuff for my Kindle without thinking has a way of overloading the credit cards 🙂

I tried to focus on the allure of sandy beaches and warmth… that sweet dolphin didn’t harken portals to hell, but then, that’s what I adore about FF… one writers soft spot is another’s edge! Love that. Love reading them all and seeing where everyone goes. 🙂

I love that too – so many people come up with such different stories. Many are really deep and see past the obvious in the picture, whereas I tend to use the exact picture but change something ordinary in the picture into something less so through personification/anthropomorphism, or a fantasy slant or whatever (and someone usually dies!).
I really look forward to seeing what people make of it every week 🙂

I couldn’t agree more… I joined half-heartedly, just curious to see if I could do it…. now it’s the best part of my writing week! So little pressure, and such wonderful outcomes! Rochelle challenged me to write another this week (that would be 3), but I think I’ll stop at 2… gluttony. 😉

Like a few others I noticed the care and concern this guy has for his friend’s arm being eaten off. Aside from that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln? Good one.

Stick in your arm, pull back a nub. A lot of things could happen when you stick a body part into a portal. Unfortnately, none of them are very good.

Obviously I wasn’t the only one who took one look at the photo and thought “obviously that’s a portal” 🙂 We just can’t help sticking our arms in things, we humans.

I’m glad we haven’t got a portal like that. The thought of sharks really freaks me out. One back to the time of the dinosaurs would be cool – but probably equally gruesome for visitors. I wonder if his arm stump’s grown during the last seven years? Great story, 😀
