If you had a choice to live anywhere would your preference be salt water beaches, forest, fresh water lakes, hot tub, ski resort or desert?
In common with several people this week I’d like to cheat a little and go for a combo. A cabin in a forest on the shore of a fresh water lake. Lovely!

I’m thinking we combine Colliford Lake in Cornwall (up the road from me) on the left, and Coed y Brenin Forest Park in North Wales on the right.

Lake and Forest

What was your favourite toy as a child Β . . . and now?
As a child I had a few favourite toys. It depends on what age we’re talking. When I was an itty bitty kiddie I had some my little stuffed elephant. I think he’s still in a wardrobe at my parents’ house. I had him on a red cord and I dragged him along behind me. As I grew older my brother and I loved playing with a fort my dad built for us. He did a great job! Now that I’m all grown up I don’t have “toys”, I have tools, gadgets and so on. My laptop, my Xbox and the like.

One toy which has endured through the ages is a little wooden bear, which was my Mum’s before he was mine – “Cuddly Bear”. I spoke about him here with a follow-up here. He is sitting on my shelf not two metres away and here he is, posing next to a (slightly chewed) pen to give you an idea of scale! As you can see, he’s a little the worse for wear 😦 .

Which do you prefer sweet, salty or both at the same time?
Oh, goodness! How does one choose between lovely salty goodness or delicious creamy gateau? It can’t be done, surely! Others have managed but I, sadly, cannot 😦 .

OK then, salty. Or sweet. One of those.

Not at the same time, I hasten to add.

Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why?
Ooh, “Snowy Winters”, interesting name, she sounds nice. What? Oh, right.

I have two schools of thought on this, both in my own head! How is there room in my head for both, I hear you ask? I deleted calculus, that’s how.

Lovely crisp white snow, flakes floating gently down. Freezing snow, car sliding around, messy mucky dirty slush.

At this point in my life, no snow thanks. I don’t live close enough to work to walk in and I hate driving in the snow. Apart from a couple of winters a couple of years ago we don’t get much snow in Cornwall. None at all this year.

So there’s a share of my world for this week! See you next week πŸ™‚ .

Oh Alistair, it seems we are cut of a similar cloth. You want me to make my mind up and be solid on something… HA!

I think your cabin in a wooded area by a lovely lake sounds just about perfect. As for sweet n salty, I’ll take those together how about dark chocolate with caramel & sea salt… mmmmm

As for Snowy Winters, she sounds a bit like a b*tch to me… just saying… nope, no snowy winters welcome here, snowy weekend with no obligations to go anywhere, sure… but for the whole winter, no thank-you…

To be honest I’ve never really tried mixing salty and sweet – it just sounds wrong. Maybe I’m missing out on something good?

A snowy weekend not needing to drive would be great, if it were all gone come Monday! All the fun, none of the inconvenience.

Why do I think the people who love snow only VISIT it on vacation? Love your bear πŸ™‚

Ha! Yes, they do a bit of skiing or whatever but don’t actually have to get on with their normal lives while slogging through it.

When he first went bald I felt betrayed and started calling him “rough cuddly bear” and snarling at him πŸ™‚

What about pretzels covered in dark chocolate? Or salty peanuts covered in dark chocolate? The lady who mentioned sea salt on dark chocolate was right, very good!
I’m sorry but your forest seems wimpy, you need big trees to be a forest. Maybe it was the picture.
I want a house boat off the Washington State coast where the giant redwoods come down to the coastline.
Everyman should date one crazy girl like Snowy Winter in their lifetime. Have fun, enjoy the drama, then bye bye.
I honestly gave my sons that advice plus told them to use great birth control unless they wanted crazy around forever.

I guess I’m just not very adventurous with my food!
We don’t generally have really big trees. Not like redwoods anyway. Possibly the inhabitants of Britain through the last few thousand years kept chopping them down to make lakeside cabins or something.
I did sort of date a slightly crazy girl once. Well, I saw her a couple of times. I like to count her in my “girlfriend” list because then it totals four instead of three, which would just be sad.

Life is very short, no regrets DrAli. Seldom do people have regrets from doing to much.

Well, after 6 weeks of delays we’re (apparently) completing on the house this week (maybe even tomorrow). That’s about as much adventure as I can handle at the moment!
