Design Flaw
It’s Wednesday. That means it’s time for Friday Fictioneers! Which was posted on Tuesday.
I’m confused 😦
Never mind. I have written my little story. I’ve gone all dialogue-y this week. I hope it’s not too confusing who is speaking, it’s tricky to do three people without any “he said, she said”.
Friday Fictioneers is hosted by the talented Rochelle and the idea is to write approximately 100 words in response to a photo, which this week has been contributed by John Nixon. Thanks, John Nixon!
Have a read of all the other submissions for this week by clicking on the little blue froggy below.
“Wow, these twigs look huge! Like a forest! Your miniaturisation device worked, Professor.”
“Indeed yes, Major. A triumph!”
“So, how do we de-miniaturise? Is that the correct term, Professor? De-miniaturise?”
“Indeed it is. I simply reverse the polarity of the emitter.”
“The emitter? The emitter way up there? Using that absolutely massive screwdriver?”
“Mmm, yes. In my line of work we call that a ‘design flaw’.”
“In our line of work we call that a monumental fu…”
“Secure that shit, Private!”
“Sorry, Sir.”
“So what do we do now? Yes, Private?”
“I suggest we run, Sir. That cat is coming back.”
Hehehe, I like it! 😀 Design flaw indeed.

For some reason I picture Bunsen from the Muppets being the professor in this scenario…
Well done! 🙂

Heh heh, yes, sounds like something Bunsen would do 🙂

Love it, I’d be worried about the spiders as well as the cats 🙂

Oopsies I guess is too small a word for this. LOL Great take on the picture.

I think if the professor had said “oopsies” they’d’ve shot him!

They just have to evade the cat and maybe it will wear off 🙂

So nice to have other people on the humor track this week. I’d say that was one major design flaw or, in this case, a Professor design flaw! I enjoyed this.

I don’t usually read other stories before writing mine but I did this week, and after seeing a couple of funny ones (yours included) I decided to do humour as well.
Ha, I knew there was a reason I made him a major instead of a colonel 🙂

Thanks! I thought I’d do a “humour week” before I go back to my usual “killing all the characters off” thing.

“a monumental fu..,” that’s about right. I bet they look like mice to that cat.

The Professor was not very brainy, was he?Letting Private play with his “design flaw”-now they can play with the cat-oops I meant the cat can play with them-unless she is hungry-meow! Ha!ha!Hilarious and loved the dialogues DR 🙂

Maybe they can evade the cat – they are trained military personnel after all. Though they don’t seem too bright 🙂

Dear Ali,
I have a shrinking feeling about this. They’re in a helluva predicament. Clever and funny.
Oh…and sorry about the early posting. It was an accident. I schedule ahead and obviously did it for the wrong date. I was as discombobulated as anyone. I’ll try not to let it happen again.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Dear Rochelle,
They are in a predicament indeed. Hopefully the professor will come up with a plan while the army guys concentrate on the cat.
The accidental early posting was fun – it shook things up a bit!

This was a great take! (Sorry…I couldn’t comment before.) These trees have that kind of mystical, enchanted quality. Science does not always go as planned! Oops! Just run.

When I saw the trees I almost went for a horror story but decided to opt for humour for a change.
Hopefully they can evade the cat long enough for the professor to come up with a plan!

You are so clever and this is hilarious! Hope they find some thread, and something to tie it on to like “The Borrowers.” My kids loved that movie and the book too. Outstanding piece! Nan

Yes, they just need something to climb up and some way to adjust the mechanism. I’m sure they’ll work it out 🙂
