Going Solo

A bit later than usual this week, but here is my submission for Friday Fictioneers. Hosted by Rochelle, the goal is to write roughly 100 words in response to a photo which this week has been contributed by regular Fictioneerer Björn Rudberg. World-renowned guitarists and best friends Frank Marks and Barry Strykes, 10 year anniversary tour here tonight. One night only! Sold out!

*****

Frank
Look at him sitting there with his stupid oversized banjo. Ten years I’ve had to listen to his amateurish plucking. Let’s see how well he strums after his brakes fail and he goes over the cliff. I’m going solo!

*****

Barry
A whole decade of sitting here covering his asinine mistakes. He missed that chord, the talentless little shit. Let’s see how well he strums when the strychnine in his nightcap rips him apart. I’m going solo!

Communicative pair aren’t they, they could’ve saved themselves a lot of time and gone solo years ago! Great stuff, made me laugh 🙂

I was edging towards demon possession again but I thought something different would be a nice change. Still dark though 🙂

Very very funny. I love the oversized banjo! Perfectly written with the matching ‘I’m going solo!’ phrase at the end.

Thanks! I honestly don’t know what that instrument is called, but I think that Frank is just being contemptuous of it in the privacy of his own head.

Possibly these are just the dark thoughts which run through their minds during performances. Or maybe not…

Whatever happened to just saying you want to go solo? 🙂 Seems like most of the rock ‘n roll musicians who died did it to themselves as opposed to these two.

Maybe they’re locked into a tight contract with each other. Of course, these may just be their dark dreams and they’ll be back on stage tomorrow 🙂

    Dear Ali,

I’m glad Simon and Garfunkel didn’t go this way when they split. 😉 A little extreme I think. Funny in a dark way.

      Dear Rochelle,
Me too, I like their music both together and solo 🙂
I don’t know if they’ve actually set up the deeds or if these are just their dark thoughts. If the latter I think it’s time they take a break!
