Sharing My World Week 19

It’s time for Share Your World, a weekly series hosted by Cee over at her photography blog. Let’s dive straight in!

share-your-world2

Do you prefer shopping or going to a park?
Yay, shopping! Hunting around for a parking place. Traipsing around a busy town. Pushing my way past a billion people. Basking in the noise. Breathing in the fumes.

No, wait. That’s not right.

I’m changing my answer to “going to a park”.

What is the highest score you’ve ever made in bowling?  Actual or virtually played.
With or without the buffers up? 🙂

It’s been years since I went bowling. I can’t handle the (real or imagined) smug looks on other people’s faces as my ball consistently falls in the gutter. Plus it’s very expensive, like £4 per person per game.

I think the best I ever did was around 160 or something. I can bowl a “good” game, then the next game I hardly hit anything.

Name the foreign countries you’ve been to.
I’m not particularly well travelled. I’m probably the only person I know who hasn’t been to Spain or Egypt 😦

Germany – two school exchanges, worked there for a year, went there for a friend’s wedding, went to a conference.

Switzerland – weekend trip while I was living in Germany.

Republic of Ireland – worked there for four years.

France – three day business meeting. Caught the ferry back to England after living in Germany.

Belgium – drove through the edge of it on the way back from living in Germany.

The Netherlands – one day business meeting.

Wales – holiday, conferences.

Scotland – holidays.

And last, but not least, as I’m Cornish I am including England!

Describe your own outlook on life in seven words or less.
It happens. Deal with it. Or not.

That’s all for this week. Have a great week everyone!

Wow, so what is your excuse for not going to Spain or Egypt? Or the US even?

I like your outlook on life statement. 🙂

Spain is best known for young-uns drinking. Egypt is so far away (and politically turbulent at the moment). And even off-season, way way way too hot for me. Anything over 25C and I start to wilt 🙂
The US would be good (not a city mind) but I can’t handle all the hassle of the airports and everything on my own 😦

One of my friends just came back from Spain and said it was quite affordable for a vacation. Now, with your explanation, that makes sense.

I was being a little sarcastic about Egypt and the US, but thanks for explaining. 🙂

There are nice parts of Spain of course, but in this country is has the reputation for British expats and drunken twenty-somethings 🙂
Greece sounds more my style with all the ancient ruins and whatnot, but again probably too hot.

Greece at Christmas isn’t too bad, or so I was told. 🙂

True – it can’t possibly be melting hot all year round!

So far, no one has preferred shopping. Maybe you have to be a rich teenage girl in a plush American suburb? You can NEVER have too many parks 🙂 I LOVE Amazon. Two-day free delivery? YES!

Parks in cities can be like a little oasis of calm amid the chaos!
Two-day free delivery? Humph. We get 3-5 day free delivery (unless you’re on Prime). Before I decided to buy my house one of my credit cards was just a long list of Amazon purchases and downloads! I’ve eased off since then.

Apart from the PS4 with Watch Dogs I’ve got on pre-order 🙂

For someone not well traveled you’ve been to quite a few places. (Lots more than I have) Your life statement was pretty near perfect.

I’ve just randomly worked in a few countries and had foreign conferences. I haven’t really holidayed in foreign climes. The list looks bigger since the UK is made up of four countries, so I cheated a bit 🙂
I thought my life statement pretty much summed it up.

I always used the kids as an excuse to get them to put the bumpers up when I went bowling, that was the only way I could keep all my balls from rolling into the gutter.
So being Cornish does that make you a Corn or a Cornet or what. I’ve never known how to refer to my, many, Cornish mates in the singular. Feel free to send a slap in the chops in my general direction lol 🙂

I was with a woman with kids at the time and we could use also use them as an excuse for the bumpers!
“Cornish” is only an adjective – “He/She is Cornish”. The noun is “Cornishman” I suppose, though that doesn’t really work in “Cornishwoman” 🙂

I have also never been to Spain or Egypt, my Dralifriend!
Your passport is certainly not alone when it comes to the absence of those stamps!!
I love -> deal with it. Or not.
That’s pretty much what it boils down to I think!
