A Riot of Colour in the Draligarden!
I’ve been out and about in my tiny front and back gardens with my camera phone again, and have discovered a riot of colour! As usual, I don’t know the names of any of them.
I have arranged it to open the photos in a new window or tab when clicked (depending on your browser setup). They look even better when bigger!
Here are some pretty violet things. They’re everywhere!

Some white flowers.
Some pink flowers in some sort of decorative bicycle flower-holder thing.
Cool red flowers.
Pink with red centres!
A rather delicate-looking white flower.
Would one describe these as “peach-coloured”? Very pretty in any case.
I love this one, whatever it is. Such a lovely colour!

Peach ones are poppies, the light pink may be a geranium. The white, single flower may be a gardenia, or a peony (hard to tell how big it really is). Violets may be vinca, and the last purple look like petunias but I think it’s the wrong shape.
Yeah, I don’t know LOL. They are all beautiful either way 🙂

No, it’s often a bit of a mess but the person I bought it from left it all in great condition.

Al, I was going to say also that the peach ones looked like poppies. You might be able to get a flower catalog at a store or lend a book from the library for future identification. I agree that It’s fortunate the former owner of your house left behind so many beautiful annual flowers. They should come up every year for you., 🙂 —Susan

I am not an expert but the white ones are snow drops, and the pink and red flowers are geraniums – my grandparents had many varieties of them in their garden every year. The pretty peachy one is a poppy, and the rest I have no clue but they are pretty.

Thanks! I assumed it was a bit late for snowdrops. I always wondered what geraniums actually looked like 🙂
The only poppies I know are the red ones, I didn’t realise they came in peach.

So many different colours!
I’m assuming this is a brand-new-to-you house or you’d know what you’d planted!?
I loved my first growing season in each house I lived in over the years. I often speak/write about the old Victorian we owned in Masssachusetts…that one had a very thrilling back garden that someone had lovingly planted at least 50yrs prior but had desperately deteriorated by the time we moved in. Still, enough of the amazing plantings came up to be exciting and I eventually moved the best of them around to other parts of the front and side yards before digging up and turning the whole shebang into a re-sodded play area for the kids. I have a love/hate relationship with home ownership, LOL, but congrats if indeed this is a new property for you! 🙂

I just bought the house in February so it’s a surprise as each flower comes up 🙂
At my age and with house prices rising this was pretty much my last chance to buy a house. It’s much nicer not to be paying rent any more!

I am lamentably poor at the recognition of flora 🙂
We’ll have to wait and see if I still have a garden full of colourful things next year, as I am also lamentably poor at gardening.

Draliman, we have the purple stars too in our front garden. The name is Campanula poscharskyana ‘Stella’. It’s a crawl plant…well, that’s obvious, I guess 😀 The colours are beautiful 🙂 Pawkisses 🙂

Thanks! It being a crawl plant does make sense as it is crawling all over the place 🙂 I don’t mind though as it’s very pretty.
