Sharing My World Week 27
It’s Share Your World time, with the questions posed as always by Cee over at her amazing photography blog. There were some tricky questions this week.
If you were the architect of one existing building, which building would you select?
Oh dear, I don’t know anything about this 😦 . I see buildings around, but I don’t particularly remember much about them. I seem to recall from photos that there are some nice-looking buildings in Dubai. I’ve also seen some great buildings in other people’s “Share Your World” posts.
Since I’m at a loss, I’m going to go for the “Walkie Talkie” in London. Here’s a picture.

Although it’s not the most amazing building architecturally, its shape allows it to melt objects in the street below! I reckon being the architect of a secret death ray building would be really cool.
What is one of your favourite quotes?
I know I’m probably supposed to come up with something inspiring here, but I got nuffin’. Therefore I’ll point you at some Terry Pratchett quotes, as he’s one of my favourite authors.
Here are a couple:

“Build a man a fire, and he’ll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life.”

What colour do you feel most comfortable wearing?
Blue, black, grey. Almost all my clothes are these colours (if you wish to define “black” and “grey” as colours). I might have a sock with a splash of red on it somewhere 🙂 .
What is something you learned in the last week?
Oh dear. I don’t think I learned anything, really. Most weeks are like that. I learned how to stab someone in the ankle with an arrow after dodging an attack in Lara Croft on my PS4. Does that count? It’s important because it allows me to riddle them with bullets while they’re reeling from the shock.

Any suggestions on which to start with?

Tricky! There are 2 approaches – read in order of publication, or read each “set” (which deals with specific characters). Here is a handy list:

I’m not so keen on the “witches” and “Wee Free Men” ones, though for many they’re their favourites. The “Post Office” ones are great, as are the “Death” ones. And of course the “Rincewind/Wizards” and the “City Watch” ones. That’s most of them 🙂
To be honest, if you don’t want read them in order I’d start with either “Mort”, “Going Postal” or “Interesting Times”.

Al, Those were interesting, offbeat questions. With those favorite colors in your wardrobe you at least don’t have any trouble separating clothes when you do the laundry. Don’t forget to carry your arrow with you the next time you go walking in the dark. You never know. Interesting stuff. 🙂 —Susan

I just chuck everything in the washer/dryer at 30C and a 40min dry. So it is lucky everything is dark!
Arrows are cool. Though probably not strictly legal when concealed 🙂

Great answers, I love the Terry Pratchett quotes. I’ve not read his books yet, but I know his stuff well from the computer games.
So Lara Croft is now on PS4, I played the original games on the original Playstation & really enjoyed them but alas no PS4 for me.
I don’t know if you watch “Game of Thrones” but in the wonderful words of Arya … “Stick ’em with the pointy end!” 🙂

I do watch Game of Thrones (though I’m a bit behind as I don’t have Sky) but I remember that quote!
Lara Croft is great on the PS4. I haven’t played any Lara Croft before but one of our Managing Directors was keen on it on the XBox so I thought I’d give it a go.

They’re probably beautifully shielded and air-conditioned inside. They’re trying to get planning permission for coatings and so on for the London building so people can park nearby again without their cars melting.
I believe the same architect is also responsible for a building in another (hotter) country which was setting people’s newspapers on fire as they relaxed by the pool 🙂

I do enjoy reading your answers 😉 I’m so pleased you’ve learned how to stab someone in the ankle – you never know when there will be call for it, and at least now you’re prepared 🙂 I can’t believe you don’t own any Tigger socks – I thought all guys had a pair stuffed in their drawer somewhere!

Being the architect of a secret death-ray building is rather awesome, I agree 100%!
The new skills learned via playing Lara Croft are especially good – stabbing the enemy in the ankle would most certainly produce a fair amount of shock. Nicely played!
