Mr Coffee

I’ve bought myself a new gizmo! Here it is.

Coffee Machine

Mr Coffee

It’s amazing! You pop one of these little pods in the top.

CoffeePods

Mr Pod

Then you fill the little tank in the back up with water and push the button. Hey presto, coffee. It’s, like magic or something.

Oh! Is this like that coffee pod thing? How does it taste?

I guess so – you puts pods of coffee in it! It tastes great. I’ve got a variety pack of coffee pods which I’m trying out to see which ones I like best.

Ali, That’s great. It’s so simple to do. I need something like that, simple. However, perhaps you need to keep an eye on anything named a “pod.” Remember the horror movies. šŸ˜€ Interesting. šŸ™‚ —Susan

It’s great to be able to get a coffee within a minute, without all the messing about with the cafetiere.
Now I’m worried my pods are gonna hatch overnight šŸ™‚

I was about to say, Mr. Coffee looks like Mr. Espresso. Was wondering how you would adjust to the increased caffeine, but now I see it’s just the brand name. Whew!

I think it probably is Espresso. I don’t know anything about these coffee terms, but the machine makes a dinky amount, which you can top up with hot water if you wish. My boss says if I top it up to mug-sized it’s an “Americano”.
I’ve been drinking double shots without any (obvious) issues šŸ™‚

Ah, I think it is just the brand name. Espresso is high octane stuff in small doses. Americanos at Starbucks are disgusting, according to the coffee drinker at home (hey, I don’t drink coffee, I thought it was legit!) He also goes through two pods for one travel mug, currently Black Magic or Caramel Blend.

This little machine basically produces a few thimbles full of concentrated caffeine. Whether you dilute it afterwards it up to you. A few minutes ago I had an undiluted double-shot of “Roma” – very tasty!
I’ve had Americano from Starbucks and Costa Coffee – both taste okay to me, though I’m certainly no expert. A little while ago I thought there were only two types of coffee (unless you’re living in an American TV programme) – black and white (add sugar to taste) šŸ™‚

I had one of those machines for a couple of years, but there was only me, so I couldn’t be bothered after a while. If you’re after a nice espresso, try the Volluto or Cosi. A nice smooth one would be Rosabaya. Lungo in the green coloured pod is also good. Rosabaya was my favourite though. I think you’re going to enjoy it šŸ™‚

Thanks for the tips! I have a selection of different pods right now which I’m trying out to see what I like. Then I can sign up to “Club Nespresso” or something (which is a lot cheaper than buying through Amazon, which is a first).

Here in Oz, you can get non-Nespresso pods that will also fit the Nespresso machines perfectly and they are quite a bit cheaper. Nespresso sometimes bring out limited-time special pods. A couple of years ago, they had cherry flavoured pods, which didn’t taste cherry flavoured at all, but they were stonkingly good!

I’ll have to watch out for the special pods – sound interesting!

I was actually thinking “Mr Fusion” from Back to the Future, but now you mention it… šŸ™‚
Everything sounds cooler with “Mr” in the front.

Ha! I didn’t even think of Mr. Fusion! It is almost 2015, and we still aren’t running our cars off of junk… science sucks!

AH. An espresso machine. Aha. Mr. Coffee forgives you. We used to have one (two?) of them, but gave up because they were a bitch to clean. I discovered my laziness exceeds my passion for espresso. Sad but true. Congratulations, though. If you drink enough, you may just learn to fly!

Ha, I didn’t realise “Mr Coffee” was a brand name šŸ™‚
I’m told this is really easy to clean, and with all the granite in Cornwall we don’t have hard water so practically no limescale.
I’ve been overdoing it with the double shots so far, but I’m planning on a single shot before leaving for work each morning – now that it takes under a minute I can have decent coffee before leaving without mucking up my timetable.

I’m not used to coffee which has any real strength to it! Two is more than enough before leaving for work (since I’m in the car less than an hour after waking up!).
