What is your favourite time of day?
This is a tricky one. I’m a morning person in terms of getting things done, so I start work quite early. I really enjoy the evenings though, especially in the winter when I can snuggle up in the living room with the fake fire on.

MyFire

Action shot of my fake fire.

The middle of the day is rubbish. I’ve started to get tired from my early start, but it’s ages until the evening.

What’s your favourite charitable cause and why?
Probably Macmillan Cancer Support. They help cancer sufferers, send round nurses, give advice and so on.

How do you like to spend a rainy day?
Watching TV, playing on my PS4. Colour me boring :-(.

When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?
I don’t prefer writing by hand at all. My handwriting has gone seriously downhill over the years, whether a result of age, laziness or lack of use I don’t know. I prefer pens to pencils because they “slip” across the page more easily, if you see what I mean. Pencil would probably improve my handwriting though, as “easily slipping” across the page is part of the problem, I fear.

Here’s an example I’ve scanned in. It appears to be a rapid “brain-to-page” poem-type thing I must have had some ideas about a while ago. If you can make any of it out, it appears to be about some cute little birds, then some lines I haven’t worked out yet (the dotted lines), then they all die! Presumably because they didn’t get up early, didn’t catch any worms and starved to death.

Handwriting

Does anyone know what this says?

That’s all for this week!

The problem when you get up early and have to work all day is that you can’t take an afternoon nap. Some businesses here close for several hours in the afternoon. I like a pen, but often use a pencil because: (a) I make mistakes and hate to scribble them out and (b) it saves on ink. My dad used to help me with my homework. His writing wasn’t all that good but I learned to read it because I had to. I think your little poem goes as follows:

“The early bird will catch the worm.
That’s something we have had to learn.
For birds that stay always in bed,
And don’t get up, have dreams instead.
Pretty soon they drop down dead.”

That’s it! I just have to figure out what goes in the middle lines I still need to write.
I always look forward to my afternoon naps at the weekend or when I’m on holiday. I’ll be taking one in a couple of hours!

The rainy day answer isn’t boring at all, especially when you add the fire to that scenario too!

As for handwriting…well, you are a doctor, after all.

A cold rainy day tucked up inside after dark with the fire on. Lovely 🙂
Hey, that’s it! The moment they awarded me my PhD my handwriting disintegrated!

OK, I got a funny mental image when you said “send round nurses”….

My handwriting was bad to start with and is deplorable now. In fact, my sloppy handwriting got me the only F I ever received on a school report card!

How lazy of me… “send nurses around” 🙂
My handwriting was actually pretty good at school. I don’t know what happened 😦

I actually wanted to scan my shopping list from a couple of weeks ago but I guess I threw it away. I stood in the supermarket for ages staring at one scribbled item, but never did work out what I wanted to buy!

I know and I use to have a nice penmanship. Now if I want to write I have to take it real slow so it can be read later.

I much prefer staying up late at night. But I’ve been getting up early for work for so long, that now I have trouble sleeping in, even on my days off. So I get up and start on book stuff.
First edition comes out on Nov. 4! ;0) (0: ;0) < me doing somersaults. HA!

I have the same problem with early work starts and then automatically waking up early on the weekend.
Yay with the book, that’s great!

Granny doesn’t have problems to read your handwriting, she can read the docters’ handwriting too, but she could hardly see it, so she had to put on some extra glasses..well, and I am only reading by night 😀 Stay warm at your cosy fireplace, Draliman. Pawkisses 🙂

I completely agree that my writing has also gone down hill! I totally think it’s from the lack of using it!! Yours isn’t so bad it’s dramatic & mysterious!! 🙂

That was my first thought if your handwriting, you are a doctor. That says it all.
I love the smell of early morning air. It’s so fresh, best walking time.
I don’t have much rain here. When it does rain it’s hard. I’ve begun walking in the rain because it happens so seldom. It’s surprisingly (is that a word?) wonderful.

I love the smell of early morning air too. There’s just something about it.
We have so much rain here we just try to stay out of it! There is something nice about walking in the rain, but since I wear glasses it’s a bit of a pain.
