Sharing My World 2015 Week 12

It’s time for me to participate in Cee’s Share Your World challenge. Here goes!

share-your-world2

When was the last time you sat on a park or garden bench for more than ten minutes? Describe the occasion.
Ten minutes is actually quite a long time. When I’m out walking somewhere nice I generally only sit for a couple of minutes and then I’m keen to see what’s around the next corner.

I think the last time I sat for more than ten minutes was in my back garden last summer. I had bought a sun lounger and I sat out for about 45 minutes reading a book. Since it was “only 45 minutes” I didn’t use and sun tan lotion so I got a bit burnt on the legs :-(.

Would you ever be interested in observing a surgery or do you turn away when the nurse brings out the needle?
I’m not squeamish about needles. I often look as I’m intrigued by the blood suddenly spurting into the container. I watch surgeries on TV dramas (never reality, only fiction). I would not like to see surgery performed for real on an actual person, whether it be on TV or live.

In fact, having seen surgeries on TV I’m scared about having surgery in real life. The surgeons always seem to be chatting about their relationships or having meltdowns. I suppose that’s just required to advance the storyline, though!

Where’s your favourite place to take out-of-town guests?
Back to the railway station/airport. Begone, foul out-of-town guests bwa-ha-ha!

There are so many lovely places here. It would depend on their preference.

Woodland (Cardinham Woods):

Cardinham1

Cliffs and whatnot (Tintagel):

Tintagel 16

Gardens (Trelissick):

Gardens 4

If you had an unlimited shopping spree at only one store, which one would you choose? Why?
I would imagine I’d go for an electronics-type shop. That way I could get a whole bunch of computers and cameras and stuff.

My original answer to the guest question was who are these people and who told them to come here?

Those look like some beautiful places to visit 🙂

Yeah, bunch of strange people suddenly showing up and demanding to be taken places.
Those are lovely places, especially on a nice day 🙂

Uninvited, even…how can I introvert if people actually come over?

You probably wouldn’t have very many guests come to visit as you seem to seem to live near all your family and friends. That makes it handy. I think the electronics store would be a wise choice. Anything you didn’t want to keep, you could sell at a profit being you won the chance to buy it free. Well done. 🙂

Yes, most of my family and friends are quite close!
I could really clean up on this free goods deal. I’d have to hire a lorry though to drive all my free stuff away from the shop 🙂

I often watch a programme called RPA (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital). They always show full surgical procedures – including knee replacements, heart bypass surgery, even brain surgery. I’m having a knee replacement in a couple of years, so I’ll know all about it – doesn’t worry me at all.

Maybe its the loss of control that worries me, though I’ve never thought of myself as a control freak.

No, I don’t think it’s that you’re a control freak, you just don’t like blood and gore – especially if it’s yours. Now, for me when it comes to the dentist, that is a whole different kettle of fish – sheer terror!

The guest question is all theoretical as no one visits us anymore. They all live too far away and most of them don’t drive much. So my answer was where I would IF such an occasion arose. Theory is okay. Reality is something else 🙂 Can we go camera and computer shopping together?

No one really visits me either so it’s also theoretical for me.
Are you trying to muscle in on my store-emptying extravaganza? I was going to take everything 🙂

I’m a huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy and I often think the same thing they talk too much and don’t pay attention to the patient. But it really is a good way to move the story line along. I hope it is not as true in real life…

I’m a fan too! I even saw an episode once where they dropped a transplant kidney on the floor, called “15 second rule” and went ahead. Yeeks!

I remember that one. We have all the years of Grey’s on DVD. 🙂

As much as I love adding blood and guts to my comics, that stuff sickens me in real life. The nurses always get a laugh at the way I look away every time I have to get blood drawn. Donating blood would be an impossibility for me…

To be honest, the last time I watched my blood being taken I felt a bit faint. There’s something about seeing your life squirting out into a container…

I agree about sitting for long when out on a walk. it just defeats the object of the walk. As you. I like to view the scenery while I’m moving. And you’ve ceratinly got some wonderful scenery to show off to your guests down there in Cornwall. You choice of store tallies with my husbands. I won’t say most men’s, because that’s not the case with computers and cameras etc. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your answers. 🙂

As long as the weather’s okay there’s always a pretty spot to visit down in Cornwall!

You’re very fortunate to live there! I’ve been watching the new Poldark and it always makes me want to visit Cornwall. The first series in the seventies was bad enough for doing that – and that was in b/w. 🙂

It’s easy to forget what’s around you when you’re living somewhere and mostly just driving to and from work and not really taking in the scenery.

Very true. I didn’t appreciate Southport until after I’d left. it was a lovely seaside town until Merseyside got their hands on it in 1974.

OMG I almost spat my early morning coffee reading about the out of town guests! Also it reminded me of an old Chinese proverb “fish and house guests go off after 3 days” LOL!

Yes, three days is about the limit. Then you just want your own space back.

I’m certain you would be a great host to guests. Really!
Yes I can see you emptying a electronics store. Not me, they would be obsolete before I learned how to work them.
I want a expensive outdoors store. I’ld get great shoes, pairs enough to last forever, the best pack, a nice solo tent, plus a top of the line bag and yes a go pro camera plus solar charger.
I dream of a great set up. My nirvana.

An outdoors shop would be good. Think of all the cool gear you could get for outdoors adventures.
I’ll have to get me some guests and try out my hosting skills 🙂
