Life Without Parole

Trapped. Hemmed in. Chained down. How has it come to this? Can’t breathe…

I can’t breathe!

Sweat trickling down my face. I feel so closed in. Helpless.

So much I’ll never do again. And so many things I’ve never done. That fishing trip with the lads we planned but never got around to. Watching tennis at Wimbledon. Climbing Mount Everest. Running a marathon. So many opportunities wasted.

Help me, somebody. Take me away from here! How has this happened? How…

“Sir? Sir?”

“Uh, yes, sorry. Ahem. I do.”

“I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Snerk, there I was imagining horrors. If he’s getting into such a restrictive relationship who’s to blame but himself. Very funny twist… (would work with gender reversal, too).

Would love to hear it from the bride’s perspective. Is she wishing when the minister says “Does anyone here object to the marriage of these two people” both the she and groom say yes.

You see this is exactly why every couple needs premarital counselling. It stops people from saying , ” I do” when they don’t.

Oh. OH. I see how it is. Maybe he should have taken a little more time to think about those vows he just agreed to uphold rather than just being so self-centered. Marriage is an adventure and love is a gift! Clearly he isn’t ready for either.
Guess he’ll have to settle for marriage counseling instead of premarital counseling.
