Sharing My World 2015 Week 22
It’s sharing my world time again, and this week Cee has posed some “finish these sentences”, um, sentences. It can be fact or fiction!
Never In My Life Have I…
…accidentally shot myself in the face while playing an ill-advised game of Russian Roulette while smashed on tequila shots. Not even as a student! That’s one for the bucket list. Probably should be the last item.
My neighbour wants me to help her…
…not have to keep asking me to cut back the undergrowth that gets in her way, probably. I’ve managed to pre-empt her this year by being proactive in my shrubbery cutting. Yay me! Why the shrubbery can’t just stay within the confines of my borders, I don’t know. Damn you, shrubbery.
When I was little I wanted…
…to be a football player (that’s football football, not American football), a train driver and a spy. Maybe I could win the cup final on the weekend, drive trains during the week and do my spying at night. That’s do-able, right? At least to a ten year old.

Awww! Of course I’ll come over and read your little stories and see your photos! Loved every single one of these, especially that first one. I believe it would be the last one on your bucket list – or not! You never know, right? It is Russian roulette after all!

Knowing my luck I’d get the bullet first time around :-(. So I’ll leave that experience alone I think.

I’m glad you didn’t shoot yourself in the face…what a way to go. My shrubbery has yet to be cut this year – it’s getting really bad, too. So thanks for the reminder – I guess. What is your issue with football in the states? Not being contentious – just curious. 🙂

I don’t have an issue with American football, I just know that many of my readers are American and the word “football” in America automatically means American football and I wanted to be clear. In fact, I hadn’t even heard of American football when I was little, as there was very little American TV over here 🙂

What’s the difference where you live – is one soccer?

Ah yes, I’m in the UK so we call soccer “football”, hence the potential confusion! We have a couple of American football teams up country I think (I’m in the far South West and foreign imports take a while to reach us!) but I’m not sure.

Thought so! But thought I would double check. I’ve heard rugby referred to as football as well. 🙂

The full title of rugby is actually “rugby football”, I’d forgotten that. Rugby is much closer to American football only without the body armour, you can only tackle the person with the ball and you can only pass the ball backwards (unless you kick it) 🙂

I wanted to be a train driver, too, when I was little – and they were still steam trains then! As for being a footballer, that ambition generally pops into most young lads heads at some stage or other. I don’t know any one who aspired to being a spy though. Perhaps you watched a lot of James Bond films? lol As for your stories, they always make me laugh. You’ve definitely got the knack when it comes writing humour. 🙂

We used to go visit Granny in Scotland every year by train (Motorail so the car came too!) and my brother and I always played “trains” when we got home.

That would have been a nice long journey from Cornwall. And yes, a car’s a must for getting about and seeing the sights in Scotland. We hope to do the Mallaig steam train next year with our grandson. I think my family’s train mad! 🙂

That journey sounds nice (I just looked it up on the Google).
The train part of our journey was Newton Abbot (Devon) to Stirling, overnight. My brother and I stayed awake a lot of the time though because of the excitement!

Wonderful answers! I am glad you are waiting til much later (if ever?) to play Russian roulette… had a friend die from that, he was only 24 😦 anyway, really enjoyed your answers.

I have read the occasional news story where people have played it and died. Very sad.

It is sad… my friend was young and stupid and quite intoxicated… he played the game on a regular basis. I guess he thought he was invincible 😦

Many young people do. I did (though not to that extent), I’m much more careful in what I do now, and in the way I do things.

Good piece, Ali. You could always surprise your neighbor by going all out and sculping your shrubbery into swans or something. Of course we’ll come to your blog and read your stories and see your pictures. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. 🙂

I’ve never used the reader, I find it complicated and cluttered. I use the “Edit blogs you follow” thing to switch email notifications on or off for blogs where I want to read all the posts which arrive 🙂

In mine, I go to “Reader” from my admin, then on the left there’s a “Blogs I Follow” with a little cog symbol – that lets you change the notification options for everyone.
