He thought he found the perfect hiding spot.

“This’ll do,” thought Drexel, Imp of the Realm of Embarrassing Incidents. “He’ll never find me here!”

Not only had Drexel snuck out of the Netherhells, shifted realities and travelled half way across the universe, but he’d also found a handy curtain to hide behind.

“Finally free!” he thought. “They may send the Hounds of the Netherhells after me to eat my flesh. They may send the Renders of Doom to tear me limb from limb. They may even send the Gatekeeper of the Hopeless Realms to eat my brains. But all for nought. They will never find me! My plan is faultless, bwahahaha…”

“I SEE YOU!” boomed a voice from the other side of the curtain.

“Shit.” It was GRaw’Que Gan, the hideous and evil Prince of the Demesne of Unfortunate Mishaps.

“YOUR PAWS ARE STICKING OUT, MORON. MY TURN TO HIDE NOW.”

Drexel covered his eyes with his paws. “One, two, three…”

Love the names of the characters and where they come from…..it makes this more than a fun hide-and-go-seek game. Excellent twist at the end too!

How embarrassing, to be found through exposed paws. Let’s hope GRaw’Que Gan gives away his hiding place with an unfortunate mishap. 🙂 I love this, Alistair. Very clever take on the prompt. 😀

After all the trouble he went to as well. Somehow I doubt GRaw’Que Gan will be any more successful 🙂 I’m glad you liked it!

Ali, you outdid yourself with this one. I wonder who’s hosting these otherworldly demons in their home. It’s very generous of them but more than a little weird. Hilarious and well written. Your imagination knows no bounds. 😀 — Suzanne

Even if he’d remembered the paws, those eyes are definitely a big give-away! It’s hard to hide when you’re an Imp.

Ok I was one of “those” people on public transport who laugh at their phones.. Very funny Drali- this reminded me of terry pratchett, especially if something Rincewind the wizard would do/say 🙂

I’m glad you liked it, and thanks for the comparison to Terry Pratchett! Rincewind is one of my favourite characters though, unlike Jed, he always managed to extricate himself from all his many scrapes 🙂
