Yup, and that’s why Aliens haven’t visited us yet officially: why bother with a stupid, cruel race that’ll be gone soon enough? Great story, I love the telegram style of the messages.

I like fries too, sliced, with little olive oil, salt and pepper, roasted in the oven at 425 – delicious. Oh sorry, your story – kind of saw the prompt this way too. Amazing the damage we do to ourselves and our planet. But I trust Mother nature will win the battle. Well told, loved your formate.

Mmm, fries 🙂 Well, actually, fries are okay I suppose (that’s what we call chips from a McDonalds or similar) but you can’t beat proper chips (that’s UK chips, not US chips which are “crisps”). Ooh, I’m confused now.
Yes, my story! I’m glad you liked the format, I took a bit of a chance there. I hope you’re right that Nature will “auto-correct”.

While I loved your light, deft storytelling style, and enjoyed the format of the “Intergalactic Telegram” which resembles earth-style telegramming to an uncanny degree, I also detected the deep sadness, or at least irritation tinged with sorrow, at the folly of us earthlings.

There is a great deal of frustration there for sure. I guess how we might feel if we saw someone self-destructing but couldn’t do anything about it.

Strangely, I was just revising a poem I’d written about a person who was doing just that, while I looked on, helpless, — and when I did try to help, was rejected.

Most people need to hit a real low before they’ll accept help, and many not even then. Good luck with the poem (and if you post it here, I look forward to reading it!).

I’d made it private on my blog, because I was nervous that the mother of the girl might read it, but I shouldn’t be a coward, should I? What the hell, I’ll make it public. Look for it under “Original Poetry.”

Very powerful. I didn’t want to leave a comment in a private post, but I thought it was a very realistic portrayal, and I have some experience in this area.
