Sharing My World 2015 Week 34

Week 34 already. Where has the year gone?

Thanks as always to Cee for hosting this challenge, on top of all the photography challenges she hosts as well!

Was school easy or difficult for you? How so?
Yes. Both. The work was okay, I usually got good marks. But the whole school thing. Yuck!

Who was it who said school is “the happiest days of your life”? Or did that saying just pop up out of nowhere? It’s a big fat lie, anyway.

As an adult, with bills and responsibilities and all the rest, at least you’re in control of the big mess you’re making of it :-).

What is your favourite animal?
To have as a pet, it would be a cat. As for animals in general, I like cute. Koala Bears are cute. Even if they’re lying about being bears.

Here’s a picture of a raccoon I bought from Goldfish’s online store. Goldfish can make anything look cute in her pictures.

How cute is that?

If you had to have your vision corrected would you rather: glasses or contacts?
I’ve worn glasses since I was around 10, and have to wear them all the time.

I did spend a few years wearing contacts while I was at university. However, back then due to my astigmatism I couldn’t have soft lenses, I had to have “semi-hard gas permeable”. They were pretty uncomfortable, and I had a real problem falling asleep in lectures back then. You don’t want to fall asleep with contacts in. Nasty.

List:  Name at least five television shows (past or present) you enjoyed?
Oh boy. I could go on forever. I guess I’ll just name some that I’m enjoying at the moment, or have enjoyed recently (which doesn’t necessarily make it recent!).

  • The Good Wife
  • Dr Who (obviously)
  • Grimm
  • Stargate SG1/Atlantis
  • Blake’s 7
  • Red Dwarf
  • Blackadder
  • From Dusk Till Dawn (the Netflix spin-off) – darker and more gory than the film – series 2 out now!
  • Bones
  • Lost Girl
  • Grey’s Anatomy (anything medical actually – ER, Casualty, Holby City…)

Well done, Ali. I agree about the contacts. My eyes water and I’d be constantly afraid of losing the contacts. I notice a lot of people do. Who doesn’t like Doctor Who?

I lost a couple myself. If I was looking in a certain direction and blinked, it would pop out!
      Everybody likes Dr Who 🙂

Love your choices of television shows. Well, not all of them, but definitely Dr Who, Blakes 7, Stargate SG1 and Bones. You have good taste 🙂

I wasn’t sure anyone would have heard of Blake’s 7! I work my way through the DVDs every so often.

When my kids were young (7, 9 and 11) we had Dr Who/Blake 7 weekends at our house. The most number of people who turned up for a weekend was 47. Everyone brought food (including one lovely lady who always turned up with 3-4 casseroles even though she travelled two hours by train) It was wall-to-wall sleeping bags. But oh what fun!

I’m on the fourth re-watch currently, somewhere in the middle of season 2. There’s a lot to look forward to.

My mom says that phrase a lot, “school is the happiest days of your life”. I quite agree with what you’re saying, at least with bills, you get to decide when you’ll pay them, at least they’ll give a long period unlike homework which it’s often due the next day. Not a big fan of school either, mostly because of the bullies and tests. Ugh.

Yes, school. Not really fun. College, though, sometimes great fun. Weekends in college. So much fun i can hardly remember how much fun we had!

I think university definitely was the best days of my life. The definition of “work hard, play hard.”

I agree about wearing contacts – a definite no-no fo me, too. I’ve only worn glasses since I was well into my 50s, and I hate those, too. I’m sorry you hated school. I loved it – which is why I went into teaching. It’s a pity not to have enjoyed something that lasts quite a long time. Funny thing about Grimm … my daughter, Louise, loves it (and guess who she got the idea to try it from?). 🙂

“Grimm” is definitely right up Louise’s street, judging by her fiction!
School wasn’t all bad, though I still have nightmares about triple Latin on a Wednesday afternoon 🙂

Triple Latin is bad on any afternoon – or any morning, come to that! As for ‘Grimm’, I could probably descibe every episode by now… and I haven’t even watched them. Lou’s somewhat ‘stricken’ with the series!

Don’t listen to her! She’s the one who starts asking me questions about what’s going on and who everyone is every time I’m watching it when she’s around when!

There’s two sides to every story. It’s all kicking off up North (anything higher up than Bristol is “up North”)! What have I done? 🙂

I overheard my young son’s dad banging on about school being the best days of your life.
You dont realize it now blah blah. I would have prefered he said they were the best days of HIS life. Just because his life turned out to be a totaL TRAINWRECK and nothing was his fault, doesn’t mean it will be that way for them. I recken the best days are RIGHT NOW! Always. 😀

Agree – at least as an adult with bills and responsibilities, having to get up early 5 days a week for work, take the car to be serviced, and fill out those endless, repetitive, always overdue forms for my kid’s endless school excursions, at least I am in control of how much of a botched up mess I make of everything and no-one is going to say I can’t watch the Looney Tunes Cartoons at 4pm just because the car hasn’t been serviced.
