Sharing My World 2015 Week 35
Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World for this week.
What made you feel good this week?
Nothing in particular, really. Life just trundles along. Everything is nicely stable on the contentment scale. I did visit St. Michael’s Mount. I’ll do another post with pictures, but here’s a little taster.
For potlucks or parties do you cook it yourself, buy from a grocery store, or pay for catering?
I don’t really go to potlucks or parties, but I would certainly buy something from a shop. Pay for catering? That sounds a bit too high class for any sort of party I would be invited to. And me cooking would likely lead to some sort of unfortunate mass poisoning incident :-(.
What is your favourite part of the town/city you live in. And what Country do you live in?
I live in England. I guess my favourite part of my village is my house. There isn’t a lot more here. The shop, the village hall and so on.
Complete this sentence: My favourite place in the whole world…
… is anywhere with lovely scenery. Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, Wales, anywhere I’ve been and seen lovely places.

oh how lovely. I like it when you venture out. Somehow it feels that the places you visit are a reflection of you.

It’s nice to get out once in a while :-). I was sure to get to St. Michael’s Mount early enough to beat the tourists (and parked a mile down the coast so I didn’t have to fight my way into a car park).

There’s usually lovely places not too far from everywhere, or are you in the middle of a big city? I’m lucky that we have coasts, woods and moors. No mountains or desert though.

There’s not much around here, in the way of natural beauty. Just lots of gum trees and the rough terrain of the mountains. We don’t have the history that Cornwall has, so there are only a couple of old buildings. And we certainly don’t have the lovely lakes, streams, and woodlands like you. The topography is completely different. I live in a fairly large metro city (Penrith).
At the last census in 2011 it had a population of 178,467. And a population of density of 1,142 persons per sq mile and covers an area of 156sqm. When you compare that to the whole of Cornwall it’s a fair sized city. The maximum temperature can go as high as 46c and the minimum as low as -5c. When you compare your temperatures, I know which ones I much prefer — I don’t do extreme hots or colds. Temperature-wise, Cornwall sounds just right to me 😉

When I read “Penrith” I thought “Cumbria” so there must be lots of lovely lakes and such, but I’m pretty sure the temperature in Northern England (or indeed anywhere in England) never hits 46C so I’m guessing it’s not the Cumbrian Penrith you’re speaking of 🙂 The town you describe isn’t a sleepy market town either.
In the 2011 census Cornwall had a population of around 535,000 (during the summer that rises to an estimated 5 million due to tourism), population density 151/sq km (if my maths is correct, that’s 58/sq mile).

Your home sounds quite remote. I didn’t realize you live din such a rural environment.

Cornwall is quite sparsely populated, but I actually live 7 miles from both of the biggest towns/cities (both around 20-25k people). Cornwall is all fishing/farming/tourism, no big industry now that the tin mines are closed (there’s still China clay mined here though).

Nice pictures. I don’t think I could live in the city again. I like it at the time, but I don’t think I would like it now. I need trees!!

I definitely wouldn’t want to live in a city again. Too much hustle and bustle, too much noise. It’s nice to wake up and the only sound is a bird or two.

Lovely photos of St. Michael’s Mount. I’ll look forward to a fuller post. I agree that there are so many wonderful sights around the British Isles. It’s the mountainous places that tend to draw me, too. Those places have lovely streams and waterfall to add to my bliss.
