“Nasty night. This is going nowhere. Wait… eight hours and you haven’t taken a leak! What are you, Officer Iron Bladder?”

“Adult nappy!”

“Adult… wait, I don’t wanna know. Christ.”

“Always prepared, Sarge! Look – camera, spare camera, spare batteries, phone charger, spare phone, sat nav…”

“Christ.”

“No sign of this drug deal going down, Sarge.”

“Stupid place for it anyway. Too much foot traffic on Winslade Avenue.”

“Um, Winslade Avenue? Not Street?”

“What are you telling me, Mr ‘Always Prepared’?”

“Well, it’s been fun, right? So, philosophically speaking, we’re right where we need to be!”

“Christ.”

There are a few well documented instances of police officers executing dawn raids; dragging suspects from their beds; only to find they had the wrong address. Ooops!

Yes, I’ve heard of some of those, and at least one I remember was a confusion between Avenue and Street or something similar. Muppets 🙂

Hahahahahahahahaha! That makes me use this unpardonable acronym, LOL! (Sorry!)
Your stories have such a range — humor, sarcasm, apocalyptic doom-and-gloom, sorrow–but this one is PURE fun! I love all your stories.
The dialogue in this sounds uncannily real, the characters leap into life, the situation is ludicrous. Wunderbar!

Thanks, I love that you love all my stories 🙂 I guess I write whatever type of story first springs to mind when I see the picture.
I’m imagining young and keen cop partnered with grizzly veteran sergeant stuck in a car for hours 🙂
“LOL” is fine, it’s one of the few I don’t have to Google.

River is fantastic – I’m watching it again tonight with my TV buddy- my daughter. I’ve got to be gagged though – I tend to shout out vital plot spoilers! Actually I have a musical preview at my post – that won’t make any sense at all unless you’ve watched it!

I think they’re just incompetent 🙂 That’s the problem when you’re using autocomplete on your sat nav.

Sat nav’s aren’t to be trusted at
all (with me at the wheel, that is). It’s fortunate those two didn’t end up stuck in a ditch, or worse, as some people have. And if those two are incompetent to boot, there really isn’t a lot of hope. 😀
