Sharing My World 2015 Week 49

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

share-your-world2

What would be your ideal birthday present, and why?
Hmm. I really have no idea. I’m not really bothered about birthdays any more. They come, they go…

What colour would you like your bedroom to be?
I’m not all that bothered. Nothing too “in your face”. I don’t notice these things. I’ve lived here going on two years and I have no idea what colour my bedroom is now, or whether it’s paint or wallpaper. Everywhere else is wallpaper so I guess my bedroom is too. If I haven’t noticed it I guess it’s currently some sort of off-white or cream.

Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why?
I would ideally, but I have to drive to work and therefore I wouldn’t.

Would you rather go a week without bathing, but be able to change your clothes, or a week without a change of clothes, but be able to bathe?
If I really have to choose, the same clothes but be able to bathe. I could probably make that work for a few days anyway. It would be pretty manky though.

I just looked it up and it was marked “British” so I’m guessing it’s not in common usage over there. Here’s your chance to introduce it!

      Yeeks, yes Ma’am 🙂
Okay, it’s wallpaper with alternating texture/plain in vertical stripes, painted over with a very pale green. Probably “Dulux White with a Hint of Apple” or some such. Who knew? Quite pleasant, actually!

What odd questions. Perhaps you can’t remember what color your bedroom walls are because you’re one of those people who isn’t truly awake until you’ve had a cup of tea or coffee. They must be a bland color. If they were, say, red or polka dots, I bet you’d remember them. You also probably couldn’t fall asleep then either. 😀 — Suzanne

Yep, they’re pale green painted wallpaper (see my reply to Louise) 🙂
I’m awful with noticing stuff like that. Until I went up and checked I assumed they were white or cream wallpaper.

Our world has gone to off white. There was a time when we did “colors,” but then everything else had to bow to the color on the walls, so finally, we went neutral and there we have stayed.

I think if Garry had to go a week without showering, he wouldn’t survive. Changing clothes, on the other hand? He’d make do. I don’t know about either, frankly.

I’ve just left everything as it was when I bought the house. The previous owner had good taste!
My hair certainly wouldn’t survive a whole week without showering.

I so totally agree…..no driving in snow. The beauty of snow is yes though. 😀

Unless you did the interior decoration yourself or it’s a very unique design like Suzanne suggested I think most people just assume it’s a bland/regular subtle colour.

True, if it were something bold I would have noticed I expect! And probably changed it to something more subtle by now as well.

No snow here either, I love the snow- no the driving in the snow- or the shoveling of the snow. Just the watching of it snow.

I love watching the snow drift down as well. Very relaxing and beautiful.

I’m pretty sure that’s the first time I have ever come across the word manky before! If I didn’t have to ever leave the house, I would bask in my own mankiness. The cats would probably volunteer to start cleaning me…

I didn’t realise until I looked it up that it’s only used in Britain. It’s about time cats pampered us humans for a change.

Well, your answers are defiantly you.
Most of my life I wanted nothing on my birthday, now I want it all.
Mostly anything to help me travel. Plabe ticket to anywhere, hotel gift cards, airport parking vouchers, etc.
Spent a week in Thailand. Ready to go again.

It’s ok but you must travel to the interior and mostly the beaches.
        Bangkok is hectic and smelly.
Very inexpensive country after plane ticket. I traveled mostly alone and no problems.

I don’t like big cities so I would probably avoid Bangkok. The pictures I’ve seen of the beaches look lovely, though.

Not being able to bathe would be awful – far worse than not being able to have a change of clothes! Not bathing for a week would definitely be manky! Manky’s such a wonderfully descriptive word. I’ve never used it in writing because I thought is was just something made up! People round here use it a lot – including me. I never thought to look it up in a dictionary. 🙂

You never know if some of these words are regional dialect. This one’s British English 🙂

Yes, I’ll check out its derivation, but I doubt whether even British dictionaries would pinpoint a specific region. But you never know… Oddly enough, it was our elder daughter who introduced this word into our house, when she came home from Liverpool after her first degree in 1994. Perhaps we can attribute this word to the Scousers! 🙂

Funnily enough it does sound as if it could have Scouse roots 🙂
