Friday Fictioneers – Going Green?

Here is my little story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. The photo this week was contributed by Melanie Greenwood.

You’d have thought a picture with a plane in it would have instantly forced any number of stories into my head, but no! Finally, I came up with this one.

“Ah, the sleek lines, the beautiful curves… one’s aeroplane is not bad either!”

“Oh, Tarquin, you’re making me blush.”

“Come, darling Genevieve, let us board our jet.”

“Indeed, light of my life. Are the Farquharson-Smythes also attending?”

“Why of course, my scrumptious sweetmeat, that’s their aircraft just leaving the runway.”

“Super. I say, you there, watch what you’re doing with the luggage! That’s genuine snow tiger pelt! You can’t get the staff.”

“True, my love. Come, we must away! The ‘Rich Hypocrites Save Our Beautiful Green Planet Benefit’ waits for no man. Fly, Jeeves, and don’t spare the jet fuel!”

    Dear Ali,

Phew! Was that ever a ceremonious bit of contradiction. Love the voices. I could almost hear the snobbery. Well done.

    Shalom,

      Dear Rochelle,
They are pretty upper crust. I don’t think they live in the same world as the rest of us 🙂

I got a taste of this exclusive lifestyle last week when someone left a magazine that caters to the wealthy in our auto car center lounge (What it was even doing in my town, let alone my store is a mystery). To show you how upper class it was, there was a section titled “A Buyer’s Guide To Fine Aircraft.” There were also plenty of ads for companies that would hook you up with supermodel singles, but no info on where to get real snow tiger pelt luggage…

Ha, I’d love to be able to read a magazine like that and seriously consider which aircraft I was going to buy. No necessarily to go anywhere, but it would be fun to visit it in its hanger with my supermodel girlfriend.

What a loving couple 🙂 Snow tigers can always have a litter to replace that one lost.

Funny story with a lot of truth too. Nice one.

Sadly there is some truth there.
I’m not sure there are enough white tigers left to have a litter 😦

I was trying to sound like a “rich hypocrite” for a second. Agree … it’s sad that some animal species have become so rare and are so close to extinction.

          Ah 🙂
I actually looked up white tigers. It’s quite interesting. Apparently their colour is the result of a genetic anomaly which already makes them very scarce. Of course, their lack of colour also makes them prime targets for hunters :-(. Exactly the sort of thing people like my two muppets would want for their luggage.

Hmm… Such grand flaunt of hypocrisy these people have. Smoothly done, Ali. I love their voices, too, and those playful terms of endearment. 🙂

I’m glad poor people like me can do our part to provide causes that entertain the “Fabulous and Wealthy”. I’m sure the two million dollars that was spent putting on the “Rich Hypocrites Save Our Beautiful Green Planet Benefit” made the $10,000 that they raised for charity an exciting evening!

    Great job as always! 🙂

Oh, I like the message in this story… the hypocrisy and downright snobbery of people who remove themselves from the movements, societies and actions they purport to promote. There are too many people like this in the world – or perhaps that’s just my way of looking at things. Love the dialogue.
