Sharing My World 2016 Week 13
Here we are again for Cee’s Share Your World.
Are you left or right handed?
I’m right handed. Very right handed. My left hand can do stuff but it needs to be trained.
This is the main reason I’m glad we drive on the left hand side of the road over here. I don’t like to take my right hand off the wheel, and since the wheel is on the right hand side of the car I don’t have to as I change gear with my left hand. If I ever rent a car abroad I’d be tempted to rent an automatic. They’re not as rare as they used to be so I expect most companies would have one!
If you had only one TV, would you prefer the TV in the living room or another room?
I do only have one TV (which is plugged in)! It’s in the living room. When did I last use it as a TV? Um, never. Everything I watch is recorded, catch-up or streamed. Here it is!

Ha, no! It would place an unnecessary strain on the emergency services, having to airlift me to hospital after the first 2 miles.

I’ve sat here for a while thinking about this. And I still have nothing to say. Love just is.
And with that cop-out of an answer I’ll leave you with this exciting discovery – it’s impossible to over-boil a hard-boiled egg! Last week I popped two eggs on to boil and went off to play Fallout 4. Two hours later I went back into the kitchen and saw to my horror the eggs still boiling away in the remaining two centimetres of water. They taste fine :-).

The only time you overboil a hardboiled egg is if the water completely boils away and the egg shell, egg inside, starts to burn on the outside. Nasty things then begin to happen. My husband has also exploded eggs in the microwave. Microwaves don’t like eggs. It seems to be a mutual hate society. 😀 — Suzanne

One side of the eggs started to go yellow – I’m guessing that’s the top where the water was gone!
No, you can’t put completely sealed things in the microwave or kablooie 🙂

Yeah, that’s why I boiled them in the first place – they were approaching their use by date and I hate wasting food.

We also record pretty much everything or stream what we watch. Or use DVDs (yes, we still have DVDs) because commercials are SO annoying.
You’re lucky your eggs didn’t run out of water. It can get pretty nasty. I forget things on the stove from time to time and I wind up throwing out not only the food, but the pot, too. Sometimes, I can’t even LOOK at it, much less eat it.

I still have DVDs and Blu-rays too. I can’t repurchase everything and you need something in case the internet goes out.
Yeah, another half an hour and the water would have been gone. That would certainly have put paid to my eggs 🙂
As soon as this episode of Daredevil is finished I’ll be popping a ham in the oven and then playing Fallout 4 again. Wish me luck!

I’m sure you could rent a manual here, but in the US, you’d probably get an automatic by default. Many people here (raising hand) were never taught how to drive a manual transmission…

You can’t even get my car (Ford Fiesta ST) in automatic. I guess people who buy cars like that (small high performance) enjoy making gear changes (I do!).

Do tell. What’s that on-screen (above)? Visual is not my medium, but the bowler gentleman reminds me of Terry Jones of the Pythons. As always, I enjoyed your answers, Doc! Love just is; that’s actually quite profound and philosophical while being scientific. Likewise, gravity is just as it is, regardless of what/how I want it to be. Hope your ham turned out okay; I’ve had my share of burn-outs whilst cooking. I would have made Lucy (of I Love Lucy) proud, I think, of some of my mishaps over the years. Oh, and finally, just about anybody can take part in a distance event; you just have to work your way up to it (and depending on what one calls distance; some scoff at 5K or 10K or even marathons–ultramarathon types even have some events called, tongue-somewhat-in-cheek, “33 mile fun run,” for instance. Fun?! Not my cup of tea; each to his own, tho.). Anyway, happy Monday!

as I’m looking for a new car for next year, I am finding it is harder to find manual transmission cars here that aren’t super expensive sports cars (not that I dont want one of those, just CAN’T get one) or no a/c or other features bargain basement types.

Boo 😦 It’s a shame you can’t find a decent manual car for a good price. My car will be manual in the US but it’s still at the top end of the “Fiesta” market. It’s more the other way round here, though automatics are slowly becoming more popular now that the early bugs have been ironed out.
One issue is that if you take your driving test in an automatic, you’re not licensed to drive a manual, so if that takes off manuals will get scarcer. Very few people have an automatic-only licence, though.

Me too! I think they’re okay as long as there’s a bit of water left. The bits which were out of the water went a bit yellow 🙂
