FF – The Worst Idea Ever

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo comes courtesy of J Hardy Carroll.

I had problems thinking of a story for this one, so I’ve gone full silly. I apologise in advance, I’m not in the mood for writing thoughtful or sombre this evening :-).

Ha.. this reminds me of a sign my father once saw in a small village where options for work was few.

    + Bridal gowns
    + Shrouds
    + Cookies

    You have to diversify sometimes.

Ha ha! I love seeing signs etc which seem to be advertising lots of random or disconnected things. Last week on “Sunday Politics” one of the guests was described as writing on “Politics, feminism and video games” – made me smile!

I imagine all these brides and grooms who quickly ‘accelerate’ an elderly relative’s demise to get the discount. What a hoot. And I want a mouse pad. 😀

I’m glad you liked it, I was hesitant about publishing as it’s so crazy but it seems to have gone down okay with the FF crowd 🙂

I love this, though I can’t see them getting rid of those 100 free mouse mats too quickly. Still, you never know – weddings and funerals can be expensive so the unscrupulous might not be above taking certain steps to ensure the dates coincide ….

I’m sure there are those whose relatives “coincidentally” require a funeral at the same time as some other service…

Ha, hilarious! With the tight scheduling, I’m surprised this hasn’t been adopted. When my dad passed, we had to postpone the funeral for quite a while because they were booked! Weird, I thought I would never have to deal with that one. With this, those at the funeral could feel better watching someone get married. And don’t forget baptisms!

On the other hand, people at the wedding might get on a bit of a downer having people crying at the funeral. And possibly a bad omen like at the beginning of the Rocky Horror Show!
That must have been quite a lot of added stress, having to postpone the funeral.
