Limerick Challenge – Wedding

Here is my entry for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Poetry Challenge. This week the prompt word is “wedding”.

Here was my chance to try my hand at some romance, but sadly it wasn’t to be. After a couple of early extremely off-colour attempts, I ended up with this one. It all went a bit creepy, to be honest :-).

Poor Freddy was jilted at church
Abandoned and left in the lurch
He tracked down his “bride”
With binoculars spied
And plotted revenge from his perch.

I really laughed out loud. This must be Freddy’s theme song now: https://youtu.be/OMOGaugKpzs

Glad you liked it! I’ll check out the YouTube later – I’m at work at the moment with no sound card (plus YouTube is blocked though I can circumvent that!).

You’ve really got a gift for this. Perfect little limerick. I think in this kind of thing, creepy is part of the magic.

Ah, Freddy’s become a stalker. From his perch? What a strange bird he’s become. Hilarious, Ali. 😀 — Suzanne

poetic justice for all with a side of the macabre. Poe would have approved. 😀

Ohhh why does the poem and the name remind me of Freddy Krueger from nightmare on elm street.

Well, you certainly changed my feelings about Freddy.I started off feeling sorry for him but by the end I’d decided he’d got an evil streak, rarely seen. Perhaps the’bride to be’ sussed that out’ and decided to do a runner. Another fun Limerick.

Yes, I’m thinking he got really controlling during the run-up to the wedding and she made a wise choice!

It might sound wrong as of right now, but soon enough you will see the value in following words: “What ever happens, Happens for the best”

I’ll pass your wise words on to “Freddy”! Or possibly the bride, Freddy seems to be the “wrong ‘un” in this situation…

I’m suprised the bride made it even that close to the church – Freddie’s behavior is definitely unhinged! Great limerick, Ali. 🙂
