Limerick Challenge – Antonyms
Here is my limerick for Mind And Life Matters’ limerick challenge. This week it’s all about antonyms, so at least one of our lines must contain antonyms. To read all the other entries, click on the blue froggy!
I don’t know my ups from my downs
Nor even my smiles from my frowns
But there’s one thing I know
(It’s a bit silly, though)
I’m horribly frightened of clowns.

Question… are you really afraid of clowns? Excellent limerick as always. 😀

Not exactly afraid, but I do find them creepy. Glad you liked it!

That is exactly what I think too… I’ve never really understood the appeal of clowns…

I had a friend who was really terrified of clowns. Her father’s profession was an artist. He painted clown portraits. This is a true story.

I think it’s because they have a fixed expression painted on.

Perfect rhythm, as always! (My head bobs up and down to the beat of your limericks. :-)) I wonder why the fear of clowns is so common.

For me, I find the fixed facial expression a bit creepy. And clowns and fun fairs often pop up in horror stories…
I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Anyone who’s had too many facial botox injections would also have fixed facial expressions. 😉 Yes, clowns seem to pop up in a lot of horror stories, but mostly in Western cultures. Maybe the fear of clowns is primarily a Western phenomenon?

That sounds like an interesting research study for some enterprising anthropologist 🙂 I assume they have clown equivalents in other cultures. Maybe they’re not as creepy-looking.

I’m not fond of clowns myself, but my daughter is terrified of them! Nice one!

I’ve always kind of liked clowns, but they can be rather bizarre I guess. My daughter went to school with a boy who went to clown school. It’s an art form in reality. You have to have the talent for it. Good limerick, Ali. 🙂 — Suzanne

Great limerick. It flows very nicely and the last line finishes it off so well. It’s funny how many people really don’t like (or are scared of) clowns. I’ve hated them since I was a child. They’re just so creepy – the evil that lurks behind the mask, kind of thing. 🙂

There are some strange phobias out there, but clowns is perfectly understandable 🙂

Good one.
And that clown phobia seems to have some sort of global presence. Stephen King and Mcdonalds are prime suspects.
