Here is my weekly post for Cee’s Share Your World.
What is your favourite part of the town/city you live in. And what Country do you live in?
I live in Cornwall, a county in England, which is part of Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), which is part of the United Kingdom (GB and Northern Ireland).
I live in a very small village. I don’t really know my favourite part. My little house, maybe?
Would you rather wear clown shoes every day or a clown wig every day?
No. No clown anythings for me thank you very much.
If I had to and it was every day it would have to be the hot itchy wig. How could I drive to work wearing clown shoes?
Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under?
Over, of course! The majority of people are “over” people. Also, although it was never explicitly mentioned, I refer you to Seth Wheeler’s original toilet roll holder patent. “Over”, thank you very much.

What do you do to make a living or during the day? If you are retired what mostly occupies your day? Or if you are a student what are you studying?
I work in IT as a “System Architect“. I basically combine hardware, software, databases and so on to create a working system. I was doing the job for a year or so before it was made official a couple of weeks ago and I got the title 🙂

Great answers, Ali. I’ve always thought that toilet rolls going under are just wrong. It’s nice to see the patent proving me right. 🙂

Yeah, it’s like, “don’t worry about me, I’ll just crash my hand into the wall every time I need a sheet” 🙂

The only advantage to having the TP roll go under is that it makes it harder for any furry freeloaders in your house to unravel it everywhere. I find keeping the door closed to be a much more logical solution to that problem, though…

Wow, Ali. You did your research on the toilet paper roll issue. I see you take that quite seriously. I simply can’t understand the “under” people. I can just imagine the stares a person would get if they drove to work in a clown wig. Good answers. 😀 — Suzanne

Having spent my adult life working on development teams as “the tech writer,” I personally find this stuff thrilling. Yet I understand how it feels when someone asks you what you do and after the first sentence, you see their eyes glaze over. I can talk about object linking and databases all day, but it’s not everyone’s cuppa. But I’m really impressed.

Cornwall looks like a very nice place, Draliman, it has something very nostalgics. We loved your answer about clowns…is there a trauma involved…MOL 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Day 🙂 ❤

I’ve never been traumatised by a clown, but I’ve seen too many horror films with clowns and fairgrounds in 😦

Over’s the only way for loo rolls to go! If I see one that’s ‘under’, I can’t help myself from turning it round. Cornwall sounds like a lovely place to visit. Perhaps I should try it sometime. Lol (Hope you’re coping with all the traffic jams down there.) 🙂

There’s someone like that at work – I’m forever switching it back 🙂
The traffic is pretty bad some days. Some days it’s fine! There’s no pattern to it – I leave work at the same time every day and take the same route and it’s anywhere between 25 and 50 minutes to drive 19 miles. Weird.

Oh no! My mom always had the rolls go under. Now, himself has it go over. I’m no good at changing the roll – the spring always pops it out when I try – so I take it as it comes.

I don’t know why—probably my contrarian streak—but I always preferred the under method. (Yes, I’m that person who watched “X-Files” from the very beginning and enjoyed it, but when it started ramping up in popularity, some of my enthusiasm faded.) Anyway, my husband has ‘converted’ me to the over method and I’m fine with it.
I’m toying with a fear-based story about clowns. I don’t know if it came from Pennywise or that sense of the uncanny or Something Wicked this Way Comes (and others of its like) or what, but it’s fascinating to me how clowns are fear-inducing to some people. My daughter’s Goosebumps books have several stories about clowns/clowning, too. So, I was thinking of combining fears . . . with clowns and other well-known fears. I’ll let you know if that gets published! 🙂 Anyway, as always, fascinating answers Ali. And a congrats again for the deserved bump up in the job world! (that sounds cheeky, though; hope it’s not a British metaphor for anything naughty, like getting a leg over or something!)

I preferred the early X-Files because it got a bit weird later on. I’m not even sure I saw all the series in the end.
I’m glad you’ve switched to the “over” crowd. It’s nice to meet a convert!
I think it’s the fixed facial expression that makes clowns creepy. “Bump up” is fine, “bump uglies” isn’t 🙂 That’s probably American slang, though.

Yeah, the garish and whitish make-up and how easily it can look cruel, and the crazy shoes, and the whole thing. Clowns are not one of my scary things per se, but I can definitely see how easy it would be to fear them. Some are lots creepier than others . . . And I hear they’re remaking “It” (why, oh why?)! Happy weekend gaming, Ali! I am a new D & D convert myself. 🙂

I played D&D a lot at school and university when there were plenty of people around. I’m glad technology now allows me to play fantasy stuff on a console!

I’m a newbie to D&D; it wasn’t a thing among the (mostly girls) I hung out with back in the day. My DD has it on her computer, but we’re doing it on paper for now. Did you know that nowadays there are companies that make graphics/blueprints and you can build your own buildings, roads, etc. out of paper for use with your world(s)? As I said, I’m a noob, so maybe this is more amazing to me than it will be to you, but my husband’s (our DM) made several of these and involved the kids. Maybe it’s even worth a post or a photo or two. He’s painted about a bajillion little figurines, too. Eye candy, if nothing else. Anyway, Ali, have a good one—keep writing! I heard the tube went to 24-hour operations . . . does that help you (are you ever in London)?

I have always found clowns- if not in a circus- as creepy! A clown at a birthday party would make me run!
