Limerick Challenge – Fairy Tale

Here is my limerick for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Poetry Challenge. This week, the subject is “fairy tale”! I don’t know many fairy tales, but I have chosen “Hansel and Gretel”.

Click on the blue froggy for this week’s other submissions.

“My,” Hansel said, “that’s so neat.
It’s a house you can actually eat!”
But they soon hit a glitch
When they met a dark witch
Though in minutes they had the hag beat!

Well done! This one would be so tricky for me, but you pulled it off in style. 🙂

If someone pesky kids tried to eat my house, I’d want to throw them in the oven too. Poor witch…

Why is it that everyone is always on the side of those awful children?

Terry Pratchett wrote some hilarious stuff about the “dessert trend in architecture.”

I’ll have to remind myself of that. And me supposedly a Terry Pratchett fan and all…

Great limericks, Ali. I’ve always liked the older, darker versions of fairy tales best, rather than the more recent, sanitized versions. 🙂

Yes, some of the original versions were quite Grimm hahaha 🙂

I’m glad you liked it! It’s one of the few fairy tales I actually remember (though “Once Upon a Time” is bringing them back to me!).
