Limerick Challenge – Seasons

Here is my attempt at Mind And Life Matters’ limerick challenge for this week. The prompt word is “Seasons” and needs to feature all four seasons – in just five lines with all the rules limericks must adhere to – rhyming, scanning, line length…!

So I’ve ended up with one “dodgy” rhyme and a bit of slang. Oh well :-).

Click on the froggy for the linkup.

There are trysts in the Spring with a lover
And fun in the sun during Summer
But Autumn’s quite wet
And it’s quite a safe bet
Freezing Winter will be quite a bummer.

Not if they acquire some nice blankets 😉 Great as always! 🙂

Another good limerick, Ali. In other words, enthusiasm fades in winter. 🙂 — Suzanne

Mine does, though I do like the cold crispness – as long as it doesn’t snow!

Haha, I see that dodgy rhyme you mentioned, but I think it’s a great limerick overall! We seem to have opposite opinions of the seasons though: for me, Summer is a bummer. I’m an Autumn and Winter kinda girl 🙂

A lot of people hate summer because of the heat, but summer here never gets above mid-20s (high 70s F) so it’s usually fairly comfortable!

It suits me. I don’t mind dry heat but it gets too humid here as we’re so close to the sea so cooler is better 🙂

Very nice limerick with good rhyme and flow! Autumn around where I am is wet and getting cold. I can feel the winter coming soon.

I love autumn and winter – they are my favorite seasons. Summer for me is the bummer! 😀

Quite a few people say that, but I suspect they live somewhere where summer is just too hot. Here summer is “comfortable”, while yesterday morning my car thermometer was reading only 8C! A few degrees lower and we’re talking frost…

Maybe they do. I grew up in Dubai so maybe that’s the reason for my aversion to Summer’s.
I have been living in the US east coast with some crazy winters for a long time now, yet I prefer the winters over summers. 😀

Very strict rules – you did a great job of only breaking one of them once.
