Sharing My World 2016 Week 39

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World. It’s a bit different this week as there are six questions, posed by kids, via The Happy Quitter.

share-your-world2

A class you wish you would have taken?
I wish I’d taken Home Economics as I’d quite like to be able to cook more stuff. However, around age 14 we had to choose five (I think) subjects to take alongside maths, English language and English literature and I went for a load of languages (plus physics of course).

However, as regular followers know I’ve done a sponge and pizza and hopefully I’ll try some bread next!

Whatโ€™s your favourite comic figure and why?
That’s either Calvin and Hobbes or Dilbert. I would post a cartoon or two but I’m sure they’re heavily copyrighted, but the Dilbert link always shows today’s Dilbert!

Name something you wish you could like.
Celery. I love chips and dips and celery is excellent for dipping but I absolutely hate it with a passion. Celery is disgusting!

Tell me about your first crush / first date / first kiss.
Ha ha oh me oh my oh goodness gracious me blimey.

No.

Who was your best friend when you were 10?
I was best friends with a guy called Michael ever since infants school after (my faulty memory tells me) I was asked to look after him when he moved into the area. We sort of naturally drifted apart after we went to secondary school, as these things often do.

What sign are you? Do you believe in astrology?
I am a Libra – we’re in the land of Libra right now! It’s always interesting reading about the various traits of different signs, though I’m not particularly a “believer”. Some traits sound like me, others don’t so much and it depends on which source you read as well. For example, one site has this to say… “positive” in green and “negative” in red. I’ve tried to decide if they apply to me (though it’s hard to assess oneself!). I guess there are more yes answers than no answers. But if I chose a different star sign, would I get the same result…?

  • Tactful – yes
  • Romantic – no
  • Charming – no
  • Just – yes
  • Diplomatic – yes
  • Balanced – yes
  • Superficial – to an extent
  • Detached – yes
  • Unreliable – absolutely no
  • Laid back – yes (how is this a negative?)
  • Indecisive – yes
  • Self-indulgent – yes

I don’t think it is hard to access oneself, after all, you know yourself better than anyone. Perhaps it is hard for some of us to own up to shortcomings or, for the more humble of us, to acknowledge positive traits but if we can be honest and accept who we are introspection should come naturally. I think you have done a good job of that. Now go make some bread! ๐Ÿ˜‰

My plan is to get ingredients next Saturday and try some over next weekend. Or some form of baguette-type thing anyway.
You’re right, it’s the acceptance of shortcomings or acknowledgement of positives which is the tricky thing.

Not in person ๐Ÿ™‚ I try to slip around un-noticed and answer people with very short sentences. But thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

I wish I could do more cooking as well. Bread (or at least hot rolls) are on my list as well!

I like how so far none of my followers have chosen my comic as their favorite in this challenge! Thankfully, I do not have Cancer’s lack of self esteem trait….

I love those cartoons also. They’re a couple of the few we get here. My son absolutely “loves” Calvin and Hobbes. ๐Ÿ™‚ — Suzanne

I think laid back is a positive! Fresh baked bread- super! Trying not to eat half the loaf when it’s just out of the oven-super difficult! ๐Ÿ™‚

Laid back is definitely positive I reckon as long as you don’t want to work 80 hours a week in the City or something.
      Mmm, fresh warm bread ๐Ÿ™‚

Dilbert is the ONLY cartoon — or anything, actually — to have it’s own technical writer. If I hadn’t loved it anyway, I would have loved it just because it recognized that I existed, professionally speaking ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck with the bread! Outside of cornbread, I can’t make bread that doesn’t come out rock hard.

Your very British, very male, response to telling us about your first kiss made me laugh. But as a fellow Libra, (although Aussie and a female) I’d also choose not to answer, but provide less entertainment by doing so. That’s your charm! ๐Ÿ™‚

I wish I learned English language much earlier. I don’t believe in astrology but read occasionally for fun.

I agree that celery is disgusting. I occasionally buy it and try to eat it but it just never gets any better. It has such a horrible, stringy texture. I have a friend who claims to love it but I just don’t see how that’s possible. Of course, she also likes peas which are another veggie that I find vile. Blech! I love your answer on the first kiss/crush date! ๐Ÿ™‚

Celery’s such a great size and shape for dipping, it’s a shame it tastes so disgusting.
I couldn’t give any details on the first kiss/crush/date. An English Gentleman never tells ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve always thought of being laid back as a positive thing. One of our sons is totally laid back about everything in life, and I often wish I could be a little more that way. Hope to see your first attempt at bread making soon. You never know, you could discover you’re a natural baker. A yeasty smell in the kitchen is nice and homely. ๐Ÿ™‚

I get quite anxious about some things but manage to avoid them, thus remaining laid back ๐Ÿ™‚
Funnily enough I made my first bread this morning. Very soft it is too! I’ll post about it soon I expect.
