FF – Getting Your Kicks
Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, the weekly 100 word challenge hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Jean L. Hays.
My story this week was “inspired” by the famous song “(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66” as I have no imagination (it’s written all over the photo!), and also because I was trying desperately not to write such a dark story as previous weeks.

When Freddy ran short of fuel he shouldn’t have stopped at a run-down bar and petrol station in Nowhereville, USA.
When Freddy parked up he shouldn’t have been so careless.
When Freddy saw the bike he’d hit knock down twenty others like dominoes he shouldn’t have gone in and announced it with a big grin on his face.
When Freddy saw twenty-one angry bikers rise from their seats he shouldn’t have said “Ooh, I’m scared, ooh…” in quite such a sarcastic tone of voice.
On a more positive note Freddy got plenty of kicks on Route 66.

Oh, poor Freddy…but this made me laugh! I love your use of repetition–definitely builds the humor. Great one–I needed this after your dark ones the past few weeks!

Dear Ali,
When common sense was handed out, Freddy was nowhere around. Nowhere USA…I like that. Very funny. I was thinking it reminded me of Wild Hogs, too. It’s hilarious.

Wonderful, made me laugh out loud. Poor freddy, he’s got the kicks but not the brains. Great to see the funny again, and it even rhymes in the end.

Ha. What a kick! You had 66 likes, too, until I went and made it 67…Almost didn’t want to do that. But I loved it! 🙂
On another note, it happened once that I was on a trip with my husband and the dominoes happened to us…only with cars! Yep, and it was our fault. Not good…

Definitely well deserved kicks on Route 66. Freddie’s such a plonker! The repetition of ‘When Freddie…’ works really well and drives home the fact that Freddie has cotton wool between his ears.
