Sharing My World 2017 Week3
Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.
Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
My wardrobe doors are always closed overnight. It’s not so much a belief in the “closet monster” – though there is maybe a hint of that 🙂 – but more that if (okay, when) I go to the toilet in the middle of the night I’d rather not smack my face into it.
Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel?
No. I wouldn’t use them anyway. I have my own ones to make me smell clean and fresh and appealing to the ladies 🙂
What is your usual bedtime?
I go to bed around 10 on a school night, on a Friday, Saturday or when I have annual leave the next day I usually add about an hour to that.
Do you like to use post-it notes?
No. No matter where you stick them, they’ll always end up all over the floor. I make notes in a little notepad instead. At least I know that’ll stay put.
When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?
If I can count “thank you” notes, then a couple of weeks ago when I wrote some to thank people for Christmas presents. If we’re talking an actual letter, then too long ago to remember. Not this millennium, anyway.
Any phobias?
I’m scared of certain things, like big hairy spiders, but no phobias as such. Nothing that makes me freeze in terror or anything like that.
How tall are you?
I’m not exactly sure, but I’ve always quoted my height as 5′ 8″ (172 cm).

Good answers, Ali. I think it’s wise to close closet doors if you’re going to smack into one in the dark. I had a door hit my nose one time and it almost knocked my silly, not pleasant. 😦 — Suzanne

It’s hard to remember where everything is in the dark when you’ve just woken up. It’s safer to clear a path beforehand 🙂

I close the doors, looks neater. I use the shampoos and conditioners in the hotels – nothing left to take, eh 🙂 I use tons of post-it notes and try to actually write a letter to someone at least every 2 weeks. Guess I’m just old-school.

It is pretty messy-looking when cupboard doors are open all over the place.
I have a hard enough time with small talk, let alone trying to write an entire letter!

I just think it’s more personal, like sending a real card on someone’s birthday or holiday – I feel it shows you actually took the time for them.

It is, very true. That’s why I send hand-written thank you cards rather than just emailing.

I walked into my bedroom door a while back and bruised my nose. 😦

Ooh noo 😦 We humans could do with built-in collision avoidance systems.

I have to keep my closet doors closed too. It really bugs me when they are open.

It’s untidy for a start.

A gentleman writing thank-you notes! Now, that’s class!
I had to quickly scroll down the page to avoid looking at that dreadful spider 🙂

That’s me. Real classy 🙂
That guy was sitting on my windowsill a few months ago (outside, fortunately!).

Open doors really annoy me and I just have to get up and close them, especially in a bedroom at night. As for poor little spiders… I like them, although I wouldn’t like really big ones crawling all over me. The thought of sharks when I’m snorkelling is something else. 🙂

Open doors are untidy and dangerous!
I wouldn’t fancy diving in shark-infested waters either.

You go to bed almost as early as I do. I guess you make it a priority to get a certain number of hours of sleep?

I get up for work just before 6, so this way I get around 7 and a half hours sleep. I find I need that much!

I also find that I need at least 7 and a half to 8 hours of sleep to function properly (i.e. not to be Ms. Grumpy Pants).

Me too. Though I don’t get grumpy, I just start to nod off around 3pm 🙂

I get grumpy AND doze off at around 3 pm. 😉

There are no big hairy spiders behind your closet door. Please forget that I even mentioned it!

Oh, thanks for that 🙂

I’m with you on the big hairy spiders. When I was working, i went to bed at a reasonable hour, but as a retiree, I don’t have to be reasonable. I actually have lived long enough to outgrow reasonability. Wow!

It’s great when I don’t have to do anything the next day and I can go to bed whenever I like.

Those were some great answers, Draliman. Granny always brings the bottles of the hotels, not to use them, but for her memories. Call me when you need any help on the spiders. I’m a good catcher 😀 Pawkisses for a wonderful day 🙂 ❤

Open cupboard doors always bother me – why on earth would you want to leave them open unless you’re in the process of getting things out? Spiders, or creepy crawlies in general, are definitely my phobia of choice. Just looking at that picture made my skin crawl. Great answers. 🙂

There’s someone at work who always leaves everything open. It winds me up something chronic!
Fortunately that spider was outside, otherwise there would have been less photographing and more screaming 🙂

Have you seen videos of some of the spiders in Australia? The Huntsman I think? I could not live there, ever.

Yeah, scary! And those ones that lurk under the toilet seat. Aaargh!
One of the nice things about the UK is that the only venomous thing we have is the adder snake, and the chances of getting very ill, let alone dying of a bite, are like one in a gazillion or something. Wiki says “they are not regarded as especially dangerous” and “bites can be very painful”. Not exactly fear-inspiring.
Of course, if I woke up with a spider on my face I might die of a massive terror-induced heart attack, venomous or no.

I need to relocate. I was scared to go outside much this summer because of all the problems my neighbors and others in the area had with rattlesnakes and cottonmouths. 😮

Bugs!
I must stop reading your posts just before bed!
We leave our closet doors closed in summer and opened in winter. Mr. Scientist has a theory about it. I just do as I’m told in this regard. It opens into our closet.

Bugs everywhere!
Opening the cupboard doors in winter is probably to do with damp and mould and whatnot maybe.
