Sharing My World 2017 Week 13

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World series.

share-your-world2

Does your first or middle name have any significance (or were you named after another family member)?
No to both questions (and names), as far as I’m aware. My first name is a mixture of English (Dad) and Scottish (Mum) spellings, though it’s quite a common spelling. I’m used to people spelling it wrong, though.

Just last week I emailed someone and signed off “Alistair”. He replied “Hi, Allister”…

Music or silence while working?
Music, usually. I often listen to music at work on my headphones. Most people in IT at my company do throughout the day. Not if I’m doing something really complicated, though.

If you had a special place for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronics, people or animals), what would they be?
Not electronics? What does that leave? 🙂

I put artwork by my friends’ kids on my fridge.

The Never List: What are things you know you never will do?
In true Bond style, I will “Never say Never Again”! Except I’m never going to bungee jump. Or do any extremely dangerous things. There are enough ways to suddenly die already without flinging myself out of an aeroplane.

And on that happy note, I shall leave you to your Sunday!

Though I will just add, did anyone know that cheese toasties can be quite dangerous? I left mine under the grill for less than a minute on Thursday and when I went to check they had burst into flames! I was going to fetch my phone to take a photo, but I decided discretion was the better part of valour and put the fire out instead.

They tasted nice though after I’d snapped off the charcoal. They had quite an authentic flame-grilled taste.

Who knew bread could catch fire? Good job I was able to salvage it 🙂

Wow, Alistair. If you hadn’t put out that fire your grill would have been toast. Some people do such dangerous things it seems as though they have a death wish. No thanks. 🙂 — Suzanne

I had to look up a ‘cheese toastie”. Wee call them grilled cheese sandwiches. We have then with soups usually. I like your name better!

“Grilled cheese sandwich” is a bit of a mouthful. I’d rather have my mouth full of toasties 🙂

I hear you with the name spelling. I can’t stand when people spell it Mary. No, you asshat, it’s Merry! Sheesh. 🙂

Sometime when people ask “which university did you go to” and I say “Surrey” they repeat the question (say it out loud) 🙂

Thank goodness you didn’t burn your house down! And, it is great that you were still able to eat it. I am with you on flinging myself out of an airplane or bungee jumping. Nope, not for me! LOL!

Yeah, good job I didn’t fall asleep or something. I’m going to move the shelf down a bit 🙂
Grilling is enough danger for me.

No bungee jumping for me either! Although I might try the Allister Special of the Day: charcoal cheese toasties. 🙂

It’s far more dangerous than bungee jumping – “extreme grilling” 🙂

No one spells my name OR my husband’s correctly. When Garry had our wedding band embossed, HE WROTE DOWN BOTH OUR NAMES. They still spelled both wrong.

I’m not sure how else to spell your name, but I did a double-take when I first saw Garry’s double “R”.
I expect the wedding band people assumed you’d written it down wrong.

Toast can be tricky! 😉 I was named after a soap actress or character, can’t remember which. Relatives still misspell it, even though it’s just one letter different from the norm.

Toast is always burnt or still bread when it comes out 😦
If that’s your real name, it shouldn’t be so tough to remember 🙂

It is, and you’d be surprised at how many relatives spell it with a C, even online where my name is right in front of them. Haha!

To be honest my first thought when spelling your name is a “k”.

Bungee jumping will never be on my agenda but there are lots of people who love it, for some strange reason. Are you sure it was only a minute you left those cheese toasties under the grill? Could it, perhaps, have been a wee bit longer – say ten minutes or so? Lol Charcoal doesn’t sound too appetizing to me. 😀

It was only a minute once I added the cheese but the shelf was right up at the top 🙂 Or maybe it was the extra hot chilli sauce on top which actually caught fire…

My youngest sister has what should be a very easy name to spell, yet when my Mom registered her for school, the overpaid civil servant who entered the information on the dreaded “permanent record” put in a weird variant spelling of her first name. So that name appeared on every official piece of documentation having to do with school, which upset both her and my Mom. It took YEARS of badgering the school administration to finally get someone to take 3 seconds to delete a single letter and fix things…

Once these people have something in their heads it’s very hard to get them to change their minds… it would have been less hassle to get your sister’s name legally changed, probably.
