FF – The Aspiring Poet

Here is my contribution to Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was sent in by Jellico’s Stationhouse.

To read this week’s other entries, click on the blue froggy.

A bicycle, yet not; a shadow, a merest thought of what was once a bicycle; an imagining, if you will, a suspicion of shape, of purpose, not yet formed in the mind of… whom? May we even dare to imagine this being, this shadow, this merest hint…

“Oh, good God, will you ever shut UP!”

“I’m channelling my inner poet.”

“Well, I’ve had enough. I’m off down town. I’m taking my bike.”

“No, wait, my muse, ridden away… hmm…”

Never more to cast the merest hint of shadow, a void where once the thought of a maybe-bicycle enters one’s imaginings…

The Muse is lucky she didn’t whack him with a cricket bat. Geez. I’d hate to hear what he says about pizza.

I love this! The first thought I had was of The Twilight Zone then the fun “will you ever shut UP!” yanked me back to ~ can we call it reality? Thanks so much for the grin!!!

Hilarious, Ali. I didn’t know that poet was hiding inside you. It took the shadow of a bicycle to bring him out. Well done. 😀 — Suzanne

I enjoyed that, Dr. Al! You definitely have a poet lurking within. (Sorry, I’ve been away from WP, except to dash off a poem or two, but now, I’m back!)

I could see where the main character might be just a tad boring to hang around with. I think I might be on my bike too. Good one.

I’m glad you liked it! The central section is a bit more mundane than “Twilight Zone”, though 🙂 Unless something bizarre happens to the cyclist…

    Dear Ali,

I think this is how my husband feels sometimes, however, I don’t often wax poetic. Great fun, this one.
