“So what’s all this gubbins for, again?”

“The heels are for my night out.”

“Yeah, I got that.”

“The art book reminds me of the suffering endured through the ages for the sake of beauty. Like me in my heels.”

“Okay…”

“The red book is a medical reference so I know everything that’s gone wrong with my feet after my night out in my heels.”

“And the little suitcase?”

“Antiseptic, plasters and whatnot. To fix my feet up ready for my next night out. In my heels.”

“I’d switch to flats if I were you.”

“Dad, don’t you know anything? Men!

I can’t wear heels, weak ankles and such. Besides, I’m tall enough. 🙂

Those shoes look like a combination of oxfords my grandmother and great aunt wore and today’s heels. I gave up wearing heels years ago. I’m still not sure what damage they caused me. I know I have back problems. Good writing, Ali.

Poor girl… I guess she isn’t aware there are guys like me who don’t particularly care for girls who wear stilts on their feet. Or maybe she is aware and is purposely suffering to avoid me…

    Dear Ali,

The things we women sacrifice for style and beauty. I’m surprised her dad doesn’t realize this. For myself, I went to comfortable shoes many moons ago. Good story.

What? No funny intro? You’re slacking off, Ali…
That said, what do guys know about shoes? Most love to look at that elongated leg and have no clue the suffering endured to give that effect… Can’t believe I still do it on occasion… 😉

I nearly wrote (referring to the title) “no pain… sounds good to me!” but that’s ripped off “Moving” with Richard Pryor 🙂
Walking round on tippie-toes all day certainly doesn’t sound like much fun.

This is such fun! Very well done.

I actually saw a video about 4-5 men who volunteered to wear heels for a day. About half way through, one guy took them off and chucked them across the street, another fellow practically broke his ankle climbing stairs, and one guy discovered they were incredibly hard to run in.

I wore heels once at a university Christmas party where I was dressed up as a woman 🙂 Only for a couple of hours, though. Once we’d done the song on stage I changed to jeans and trainers.

Great and very amusing take. I’ve always said to my daughter, “God gave us feet with a wide expanse to walk on and you spend all your efforts trying to get it down to the smallest little point.” Men and women will never come together on the subject of shoes, there’s an unbridgeable gulf there.

Great story Draliman, incredible job! A comforting picture would have been… a) the shoes b) a tote for carrying them c) flats to wear in between.
