FF – Fairy Revenge

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Janet Webb.

I have unashamedly combined violence, social commentary and fantasy to come up with something a bit surreal!

Sorcerer Gordak regarded his receptacle of fairy dust with glee. Spotting movement from the corner of his eye he quickly grabbed the luckless sprite. As it screeched in agony he crushed it between fingertip and thumb, wringing its shattered body and allowing the fairy dust to fall into…

“Whoa, dude, how is this ‘an enjoyable fantasy romp suitable for all ages?’

“Kids are desensitised to violence these days. They’ve seen worse on YouTube.”

“Huh, true. Write in some more gore.”

Lurking in the corner, fairy scout Jinglebeenz read the words, mistook them for a battle plan, drew his sword and attacked.

    Dear Ali,

You really want to rattle today’s youth? Take away their cell phones. 😉 If Jinglebeenz looks like Orlando Bloom, bring on the attack. 😀

      Dear Rochelle,
I’d be too scared to go anywhere near a youth’s mobile phone 🙂 Jinglebeenz can be anything you want him to be!

Hahaha! Well, Ali, I guess that’s how it starts, huh? After the violence comes the “you-know- what” and I’m sure Tinkerbell will be summarily kicked out of Disneyland for it.
    Good story!

Fantastic fun. Love the set up, although I must say squeezing poor little sprites into fairy dust is cruel. Great pull up with that corrective voice. Would love to have more of this story.

    That was utterly delightful!
And for those mocking the prick of a fairy sword, have they no thought of the damage mosquitos cause? Surely a fairy,s sword would have some magical powers… I’d not underestimate Jinglebeenz, no siree…
