What Pegman Saw – Cats

I thought I’d try the What Pegman Saw 150 word fiction challenge this week. We’re at Petra in Jordan. I had a stroll around Google Maps and grabbed a picture for my story.

“Here we are at last! Petra.”

“So we are. And don’t call me ‘Petra’ hahaha!”

“I swear to god, if you say that one more time…”

“Okay, okay, no need to get stroppy. So, where’s this ‘theatre’, then?”

“Just over there. But look at this magnificent view…”

“Yeah, magnificent. Rocks and sand. Does the term ‘badlands’ mean anything to you?”

“Ugh. We’ve come all this way. Try to enjoy yourself, will you?”

“Fine. I’m hoping they’re showing ‘Cats’.”

“Huh?”

“’Cats.’ At the theatre. I’ve always wanted to see it.”

“What…? Oh. It’s not that type of theatre. It’s more an amphitheatre. You can look down over the tombs.”

“What? What? Tombs? What? I wanna see ‘Cats’!”

“Okay, fine. Follow me. Come on. Into this alley. Through the gate.”

Clang!

“Hey! Why’ve you shut me in? With those…”

“… Arabian leopards, if I’m not mistaken. They have your scent! You wanted ‘Cats’…”

HOORAY! So happy to see you on Pegman 😀

This was delightful–laughed out loud. Dialogue is true to life. Poor fellow probably doesn’t want to see Cats any more!

Glad to be here 🙂 I’ll try to make it as often as I can, I have a couple of days off work this week so more time.

I’m glad you enjoyed it, I’m always a bit worried when I start a new challenge. No, I think he’s probably had more than enough cats for this trip 🙂

I’m sure those cats will sing him a lovely showtune as they are ripping his innards out of his gut….

That’s some great entertainment right there. In a gruesome and pretty final sort of way.

Anyone who goes to Petra to see “Cats” deserves to be eaten by leopards.

He wasn’t really getting into the spirit and history of the trip.

Good dialogue and story, Ali. I saw “Cats” some years ago. I don’t blame him for being disappointed. Good writing 🙂 — Suzanne

Had a good laugh Ali. 😀 I bet he would not want to see any more cats now. 🙂 Good dialogues.

Hmm … must be two women travelling together. Why else would they be so catty to each other? 😉

Love the dialogue! Having a companion on a trip like that who doesn’t share your interests is never pleasant. I’d say that shutting them in with the leopards is a little drastic, but I’d probably be tempted to do the same thing! Nicely done, Ali. 🙂

Drastic you say? Should I go let them out? Um, hypothetically.
