Pegman – Grand Adventure

Here is my story for What Pegman Saw. This week we are in Syria.

“I can’t believe this. I really can’t.”

“It’ll be okay, Hun. It’s a mistake anybody could have made.”

“No, Dear. Just you. I mean, honestly. We should have been sitting in beautiful Sicily, instead of which…”

“I know, I know, we’re stuck in a sand storm in a war zone.”

“Syria. Syracuse. They’re not that similar.”

“I wondered why we needed visas. At least there’s sand. Pretend we’re at the beach. It’ll be a grand adventure!”

“…”

“Never mind, love of my life, we’ll soon be on our way to romantic Paris. All this will seem like a bad dream. Ah, freshly-baked croissants in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.”

“Let me see those tickets. Ah yes. Well done. Two seats to Paris. Texas.”

“Hmm. I wondered why we needed visas.”

“I want a divorce.”

I love your ability to see the lighter side of things. What a marvelous take on a difficult prompt!

Really liked your tale. I suspect this “misguided traveler” is being abetted by some clueless ticket agent. They do exist, too. But Paris, Texas isn’t so bad. 😉

I think you might be right! Sounds like they’ll be okay in Texas then 🙂

Could be worse. They could have been sent to Texas, Australia. Yep, we have a Texas here. https://www.fourstjames.com/blogs/stories/14652785-welcome-to-texas-queensland-australia
or Memphis in Egypt, or Lebanon, New Hampshire, or Moscow, Kansas, or Sydney, Australia vs. Sydney, Canada. Yep they are all genuine places 😀

hahah – you have this wonderful mix of being right there and feeling the mishaps and then adding the humor. After smiling with the idea of “freshly-baked croissants in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower” I laughed at the Paris texans and divorce….
and the syracuse – syria – lol
    well done

    Dear Ali,

She’ll never make it as a travel agent. 😉 You do have a knack for the absurd and funny. Good one.

I would not be surprised if Paris, Texas didn’t actually have its own Eiffel Tower. Some towns make their tourist dollars on their name alone…

See! Why spring for the real thing when you can see a fake knockoff on the cheap?
