Sharing My World 2018 Week 9

Here is my regular post for Cee’s Share Your World.

share-your-world2

What are you reading right now?
I’m reading two books, “Spy Glass” by Maria V Snyder and “The Vinyl Detective – Written in Dead Wax” by Andrew Cartmel.

What was your first adult job?
I worked a summer job in the local county council’s computer department, back in the “mainframe” days. All spinning tapes and whatnot, like you see in old films.

What’s your favourite breakfast cereal?
Breakfast cereal? I’m British so that means the “full English”. Eggs, sausage, bacon, black pudding, baked beans, mushrooms and toast. “Cereal”, indeed.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
I appreciated that the snow melted and that I could work from home when I couldn’t get my car up the hill.

I took some pictures out the window. I was quite impressed with my camera. I just pointed and clicked and it did quite a good job. The first two are unedited. For the last one I just pushed some buttons in Lightroom to see what would happen and managed to make it look a bit colder πŸ™‚

The pictures of the snow look great, Draliman. Ours has almost disappear over the night, hope yours will too πŸ˜€ I think Grandpaw is in for an English breakfast πŸ˜€ Pawkisses for an Easy Sunday πŸ™‚ ❀

      Ooh, lucky Grandpaw. Yum πŸ™‚
All our snow is now gone and the temperature has risen several degrees.

That last picture is definitely more chilly. I understand the breakfast cereal question, but didn’t you eat any as a child? Did you go to school everyday after a full English? – lucky boy!

I can’t drink milk so I never really ate much cereal. Some Frosties, maybe. But we certainly didn’t have a full English every day!

Good pictures, Ali. Great black and white shot. That English breakfast sounds like what they show in the old British movies. The wait staff fills the side buffet with all the silver warming dishes and the family members partake before the younger ones go out for their morning gallop through the grounds. πŸ™‚ — Suzanne

Ha, I just bung it all on a plate! There’s no morning galloping either πŸ™‚

Cereal is overrated anyway. It’s also not just for breakfast… I usually eat it as a snack.

Sounds a bit too healthy for me.

LOL! Have you ever seen American cereals. Most of them are one part grain, fifty parts sugar…

See, that’s perfect. You feel like you’re eating healthily but still getting your massive sugar high.

Great photos! What is black pudding?

      Thanks!
Black pudding (blood pudding) is blood, fat and oatmeal, basically. It’s probably not very good for you at all!
When I have a full English at home I use hog’s pudding (a version of white pudding made in the SW of England where I live) which is like black pudding but with pork meat and without the blood. I get it from a local farm.

Thanks for explaining it to me. I would probably prefer white pudding to blood pudding. Very interesting!

      Yep!
I was surprised how good they came out since it was very dark. I guess the camera compensated. I had to click very carefully as it changed the shutter speed to 1/15s (full daylight could be 1/4000s)!

Like the way you lowered the saturation and got white snow. Unless I do that, my daytime snow tends to be blue and my nighttime snow, yellow.

Yes, that’s exactly what I did, lowered the saturation πŸ™‚ I definitely remember choosing a filter and then moving some sliders around. Maybe I should read a little book on it.

I like the last picture the best. Interesting description of blood pudding. I might scrunch my nose and be tempted to try it 😊 Usually I go for the sugar high – one part coffee to 2 parts cream and sugar type of breakfast. I am sure there are health benefits to it. πŸ˜‰

The last one more accurately shows how cold is was.
It just smells like a burger, really. I’m not sure which breakfast is healthier (probably neither) πŸ™‚

I like the sound of a “full English” breakfast! Maybe I can pop over when I’m condemned to so-called “Continental” fare in hotels here. But you left out the tea! Alas!

Snow is good πŸ™‚ Driving in snow is bad 😦
We’ll eat anything for breakfast over here πŸ™‚ And a lot of places do an “all day breakfast” so you can have it any time!
