FF – A Safe-ish Place

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Nathan Sowers, Dawn Miller’s grandson.

I quickly wrote this in my lunch break so that I at least had something, but had no time to write anything else.

Have you ever woken up in the morning with little recollection of the night before? Was there perhaps a suspicious puncture wound on your neck?

Did you open your curtains to let the sunshine in, only for your head to burst into flames?

Did you check the fire damage in a mirror only to find you HAD NO REFLECTION?

If you’ve answered “yes” to all these questions, then Vampires Anonymous could be for you. If you’re newly turned and have nowhere else to go, pop along for a bite. You’re not alone!

Free blood and cookies at your first meeting!

Lot’s at stake being a vampire… take precautions against garlic, crucifixes and holy water.

I bet they do! Fortunately we call it by its original name over here (black pudding) otherwise I probably would never have tried it. “Blood” pudding sounds too icky to we non-vampires 🙂

It’s that burst of flavour when a clot bursts against your tongue that makes them the choice for the discerning vampire.
      I feel a bit ill now…

Yep, I’ve been to those places to give blood, free tea and biscuits. I wondered was the the only reason or was it to keep the long tradition of lore and fable about Vampires alive. I’ll admit some of the nurses did look a bit pale and kept out of the light.
    Good fun read.
