Sharing My World 2018 Week 35

Here is my post for Cee’s Share Your World.

Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts?
No nuts for me. I’ll eat the occasional nut, mostly in chocolate. I won’t miss out on a nice bit of chocolate just because it has nuts in it.

Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
I have one wardrobe. I have, once and for all, tried to work out what a “closet” actually is. Someone told me once that it’s a wardrobe which is built into the wall, but it’s not that clear-cut – you can also have a walk-in wardrobe. Then you can add “cupboards” and “cabinets” into the mix! So, unless you live in America where “closet” is used a lot, I’ll stick to “wardrobes” for my clothes, “cupboards” for bits and bobs and “cabinets” for dishes and whatnot.

What was the question again? Oh yes. Closed. It’s tidier that way.

Are you usually late, early, or right on time?
I’m usually early. Way too early, in fact. I can’t remember the last time I was late for anything. I’m usually waiting in the car for whatever it is to start.

There are all kinds of closets… including closets you can assemble and merely have sit in your room like dresser (Not sure if those have a different name in the UK or not). Basically, if you can hang clean clothes you’re not wearing at the time in it, it’s a closet. Of course, the main purpose of my closets are to store junk in…. except for the one in the unused room that serves as the spot for the litter box.

See, I hang my clean clothes in the wardrobe… it does have some junk in it too.

My closet is full of nuts after I got to the shops early when they had a special offer on!
I’m fibbing really. There was no special offer!

Though I’m not a big nut fan, there’s something about nuts in chocolate… 🙂

I bet if a wardrobe door is open you just have to go inside to investigate, don’t you? 🙂

I don’t mind nuts so much on their own but I don’t like them interfering with the flavor of things I like. Like chocolate. And why ruin a perfectly nice cake or batch of brownies by putting nuts in it? I always leave them out.

I wouldn’t deliberately add nuts, but if some mad fool has already added them I won’t let them stop me!

In the U.S. we have closets which are usually big enough to hang one or two people’s clothes. There are also walk-in closets. Our closets are built into the wall. Probably children (or adults) who have read “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” learn what a wardrobe is from that. Here in India, there are wardrobes. I read that closets had to be built into the walls of the White House in the U.S. as there must have been wardrobes before, so people in the U.S. probably haven’t always had built-in closets. The word “closet” sounds like it might have originated in France. Of course, poorer people at one time probably just had nails or hooks on the wall. In the U.S. we also have kitchen cabinets for dishes, etc. 🙂 — Suzanne

Thanks! One thing I read said that “closet” comes from “water closet” (still used as letters for toilets in this country – W.C.). I think the American influence is bringing the word “closet” into more frequent use here – as a child there was never any such thing!

My walk-in closet as a kid had a big mean ass monster living inside!
    I swear. 🙂

      I will always own a “wardrobe”, I don’t care how old-fashioned it sounds 🙂

Brazil nuts are best in chocolate I think. Although peanuts come a close second. I used to love Treets and haven’t been the same since their demise.
I wonder why anyone would sleep with their wardrobe/ closet doors open – the ghouls can get out easily. Surely the correct thing is in the name ‘close – it.’
I’m with you on being early to places, although I doubt you believe me when you consider my tardiness on commenting on blog posts.

I quite like Fruit and Nut – even though I’m not keen on the fruit or the nut!
Leaving wardrobe doors open is a sure invitation to get your brains eaten out overnight.

I tried setting the clocks ahead by a few minutes, but my husband caught on. He’s just as bad as the kids unfortunately.
