FF – A Disappointing Day Out

Here is my not really a story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Dale Rogerson.

Any resemblance to any persons alive or dead is quite possible 🙂

“Well, this is disappointing,” grumbled Dail. “What did the advert say?”

“Hmm,” replied Rocheel, “’Biggest falls in Canada, terrifying rapids’.”

“What? A trickle of water, plummeting six inches to the pool below?”

“Well, I’m going for it. If one can, one must!” misquoted Rocheel, donning her life preserver and jumping in, to be instantly submerged to her ankles in the ‘terrifying rapids’.

Following her friend, Dail jumped in her canoe, only to be immediately grounded on an inconvenient pebble.

“Huh,” she said. “Rubbish. Well, best take a photo. Maybe a Friday Fictioneer can make a story out of this whole debacle…”

Such a fun story, terrific take and lots of gems like “Rocheel” in her life preserver, up to her ankles and “Dail” beaching her canoe on a pebble 🙂 🙂 :).

You can be sure, Ali, that your name will be mentioned in a couple of upcoming FF stories…

I wonder if Dale took this photo at the “Twelve-Foot Falls” DH + I drove half an hour through a pine forest in northern Wisconsin to see. We concluded the “twelve feet” referred to slope length rather than height.

      Eek 🙂
We have something similar here. The name of the place implied a magnificent sight but I don’t think I ever saw any sort of waterfall.

May be they missed “terrifying shallow” rapids. But they are having fun nevertheless. Why complain.

Yes, their guide book must have had a smudge over the word “shallow”. Much fun was had!

    Dear Ali,

Glad I’d set my coffee down. This one’s a snort and spew one for sure. So glad you changed the names so no one would know who you really meant. Too funny! I’m up to my ankles in laughter.

    Shalom,

I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂 I always worry a bit when my story points towards real people but you guys seem like good sports 🙂
