Sharing My World 13-01-2019

Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World.

Did you have to help out with chores when you were growing up? If so, what were you assigned to do?
You know what, I can’t actually remember. So if I did have chores I’m guessing it wasn’t anything particularly strenuous. Whatever it was or wasn’t, it has successfully prepped me for an adulthood of utter laziness.

Have you ever researched your family tree? What do you know about your family’s roots?
I’ve not done any research but I know that Dad’s family’s from Cornwall going back forever and Mum’s family is from Scotland, though many generations back I think they originally came from Cornwall too.

What’s your cure for hiccups?
This question has made me realise that I haven’t actually had hiccups for a good long while. When I do, I try the standard “holding my breath”, and also a swig of vinegar. Though I may have made the vinegar thing up as I really like drinking vinegar, but it’s bad for your stomach so I need an excuse. Ooh, is that hiccups coming on…

What makes you roll your eyes every time you hear it? Either figuratively or literally?
Mainly it’s the standard gripe – grammar and punctuation. Grrr. I don’t mind the occasional typo but sometimes you see the same mistake over and over again.

Oh yeah. And “Brexit”, obviously. Just get on with it, will you?

I’ve heard a lot of chat regarding Brexit. Sounds like your leaders across the pond there are as efficient as ours…i.e. NOT. It’s a nutty world, but thanks for Sharing Yours with us this week! 😀

They’re doing Brexit at the expense of everything else. We might as well have a government shutdown too for all the work they’re doing 😦

They’re supposed to but I suspect while I’m at work they spend all their time watching the Netflix 🙂

I wonder how many people who did this challenge this week suddenly wound up with a case of the hiccups simply because it was brought to the forefront…. hic!

I was spared the hiccups. I used to get them a lot, now hardly ever. Who does the chores around here? We’ve been trying to train the dogs, but it hasn’t worked out well.

I used to tend bar in my younger days and people would often get the hiccups. They rarely liked my cure though, as it does make a spectacle out of you, but honestly once you are drunk enough to have the hiccups you’ve most likely made a spectacle out of yourself!

We’ve got the shutdown and you have Brexit. I’m a retired American in India so I’m not close to either. My retirement money isn’t affected but I feel sorry for the many who are suffering and wish it would stop. —- Suzanne

Yes, 800,000 government workers not getting paid, I heard. I wouldn’t last long under those circumstances with bills and a mortgage.

It’s a national shame. We’re going to have more homeless soon. Families will be on the streets. It’s horrible. The President is a wealthy man and I doubt he really understands how they feel. It’s been said he never had to live from paycheck to paycheck. He made the comment “They’ll make do. They always make do. Does that sound like a person who understands? It reminds me of “Let them eat cake.” 😦 — Suzanne

I had hiccups that wouldn’t let go yesterday. We looked up different ways to be rid of the buggers and gargling water actually worked! A game changer, I tell ye!

I’d probably start choking. So that would indeed work!

For what it’s worth, I don’t know anyone more well-adjusted to an adulthood of utter laziness than you are. 😉

My family has a book about history on one side dating back to the 1600s. It’s pretty neat.

That’s very cool. According to Google that’s around the time of the first American colony (1607)!
