FF – The Aspiring Musician

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Anshu Bhojnagarwala.

Another story which came straight into my head. Yay!

“What the hell is that?”

“I got it from the dump. Pretty great, huh?”

“It’s got a tree growing out of it.”

“You’ve heard of house music? Garage?”

“Yessss….”

“This is gonna be ‘Plant’.”

“Jesus.”

“Here goes…”

Thunk! Crash!

A cat’s tail, poking out from beneath the rubble, twitched once and was still.

“YOU KILLED MR FLUFFY, YOU MURDERER!”

“Maybe it was a bit knackered. I saw a guitar with mushrooms growing out of it down the dump… ‘Fungus’! Awesome!”

Meanwhile Mr Fluffy, one of his nine lives sadly gone, extricated himself and trotted away in search of a less insane human.

It does make a rather good garden, doesn’t it? However, here in Oz, the chance of having a Joe Blake take up residence withing the woodwork is always a danger. Love where you went with the picture, D-Man 😀

I was just Googling “Joe Blake” when I suddenly thought – rhyming slang for snake! Yes, I hear they nest in the most unfortunate places.

    Mrs Premise: Hello, Mrs Conclusion.

    Mrs Conclusion: Busy day?

Mrs Premise: Busy! I’ve just spent four hours burying the cat.

Mrs Conclusion: Four hours to bury a cat?

Mrs Premise: Yes! It wouldn’t keep still, wriggling about howling its head off.

Mrs Conclusion: Oh – it wasn’t dead then?

Mrs Premise: Well, no, no, but it’s not at all a well cat so as we were going away for a fortnight’s holiday, I thought I’d better bury it just to be on the safe side.

Mrs Conclusion: Quite right. You don’t want to come hack from Sorento to a dead cat. It’d be so anticlimactic. Yes, kill it now, that’s what I say.

    Mrs Premise: Yes.

I found a guitar in a container many years ago myself. It lasted until last year, but then there was no hope left. I brought it with me on journeys, too. Oh, those memories. Then it went back into another container, for no one to ever pick it up again.
