Here is my post for Melanie’s Share Your World. This is a collection of fun questions in honour of April Fool’s Day! There are quite a lot so I’ll answer a selection.
Why is it called “beauty sleep” when one wakes up looking like a troll?

Why do they sterilise needles for lethal injections?
If you’re gonna do a job, do it right…
Why do most cars have speedometers that go up to at least 130 when you legally can’t go that fast on any road?
Two reasons I reckon. In case you take it on the track – so mine would need to go up to over 140mph anyway. And if the speedo only went up to 70mph (the max in the UK), how could you tell you were speeding? You could be going 90 and it would still be reading 70 🙂
What are some things that are okay to do occasionally but definitely not okay to do every day?
Stay in with loads of chips and dips and chocolate and watch telly all day.
In your opinion, what’s the best type of cheese?
All of it.
You are about to get in a fight, what song comes on your mind soundtrack?
I know it’s completely obvious, but the moment I read the question I heard “Eye of the Tiger” in my mind.

The U.K. must have a lot of open roads with few cars for the max speed limit to be 70 mph. I wouldn’t have the nerve to drive even that fast. Of course, I gave up driving entirely when we moved here. 🙂 — Suzanne

The speed limit is very much dictated by climate and emissions now I think as modern cars and roads are perfectly safe higher than that. Though while commuting I’m careful to keep below 80 🙂 I aim for 75 but it tends to creep up…

Most highways here are 70 MPH, but in Texas there are speed limits of 85 mph. 85 is the max here in the USA.
Then there is Germany….

Since the 55 mph max was eliminated in the 90’s, each state has the right to set its own speed limit. It’s 65 here in Illinois, but right across the river in Missouri it’s 70. I discovered on road trips that you can tell whether you’re in a “blue state” (liberal) or “red state” (conservative) by what the highway speed limits are. Rednecks want to drive like their NASCAR heroes…

Read in the news yesterday that one driver was caught driving 220 km/h. My Micra doesn’t have such numbers on speedometer… Is it worth to try I wonder?

Waah, that’s 136mph! That’s below my Fiesta’s top speed but I’d never risk it on a road. Madness.

Once I drove at speed limit 65 mph, all alone on the road, when a jeep with the roadworks markings passed by from nowhere. I was startled. When I returned my eyes on the road, the jeep was gone!

“Eye of the Tiger” appears to be THE choice for a fight song. All sorts of folks have chosen it, me among them. As you pointed out in your comment on my post! Thanks for Sharing Your World this week and for playing along with the silliness. 🙂

It’s apparently illegal to kill someone who is sick. So if you are very ill, they won’t let you die. They will make you healthy and THEN kill you. I love justice.
