FF – The Crabs of Crab Bay

Here is my silly story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Sandra Crook.

The Crabs of Crab Bay saw, at last, their target. Holidaymakers, setting up for a day’s sunbathing.

“Attack, my comrades! Today we taste blood!”

Pouring onto the sand, they charged, pincers snapping.

“Look, Dad, crabs!”

“Mmm, crab meat. Grab the cricket bat!”

The Crabs of Crab Bay milled in terror as the two-legs approached. Field Marshal Crab took charge and, wheeling sharply, with full military discipline, the Crabs of Crab Bay fled the scene strategically withdrew.

Seven Crabs lost their lives that day.

Avenge your fellows! Join up today! Pincer sharpeners provided!

They should have attacked with a pincer movement!

Ah, ha, ha. Any animal that’s good to eat better think twice before attacking the chief predator, man. The guy with the cricket bat probably did most of the killing. Funny story, Ali. 😀 — Suzanne

      Dear Rochelle,
Using the correct military terms makes them sound like they planned the whole thing rather than just scuttled away 🙂
      I’m glad you liked it!

Crabs of crab bay are probably not familiar with their enemy. They will be dug out from their most secret hideout, boiled and eaten. No one is a deadlier enemy than a man out to explore the world.

I presume they were walking sideways and with that in mind, which way is reverse? They need to get it right. I love crab meat but Field Marshall Crab sounds like he may be a bit on the tough side

Yes, the Field Marshal has been around a while, best to just whack him and leave him in the sand…
