“Next!”

“Good morning! We’d like to see a show.”

“Huh?”

“Cats?”

“Whaa?”

“Starlight Express?”

“?”

“Evita, perhaps?”

“?”

“Oliver? West Side Story? Beauty and the Beast?”

“Ain’t got none a’ those.”

“Okay, so what do you have?”

“Big boxes. Medium boxes. Small boxes.”

“Boxes.”

“It’s right there, above the door. Box. Office. An office. For boxes.”

“But, um, that’s not what… are you taking the piss?”

“Do you want a box or not?”

“Hell. Give me a medium.”

“Do you want it boxed up?”

“Jesus.”

“Next!”

I’d like my box gift wrapped as well. The person I give it to will be so surprised!

Toddlers would love it, they’re always more interested in the wrapping paper and box anyway… and it would be a special treat for cats.

Ha! That’s the exact opposite of someone else’s amongst us . Your character should trade places with the other one.

Jesus in a medium sized box. I know we’ve grown over the centuries, but was he that puny?

Clever, clever, clever! I could not get my ‘story’ down to the 100. It was my first exposure to ‘monster’ movies…. Godzilla. Check it out if you have time and the inclination. https://rogershipp.wordpress.com/2019/06/26/i-was-schooled/

Once I started writing the prompt response, I realized that my writing was far more a personal reflection than a story, So I sort of ignored the counting. After writing the response, I looked to see if I could turn it into two (or three) selections, but then I decided… why try?

I love this story – its surreal, I could imagine someone coming out of the theatre box office carrying a pile of boxed up boxes and no theatre tickets !

Two words together that mean exactly what they mean separately… how confusing! 😀
Imagine a compound word meaning exactly what its constituents mean. Butterfly = butter fly!

With my friend’s permission, I brought her 12-yera-old son and his best friend to an appliance store for his birthday. The store owner let them dig in the trash of old boxes and pick out four large boxes. I spent less than $3 for backing type. The boys built a fort out of the boxes in the basement. They played in it for months.
    Boxes are great.
