FF – Ooh, Aah!

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Mikhael Sublett.

Well, I just hit “publish” instead of “preview”… bear with me… 🙂

Okay, I think I’m there.

“Yes! Will you look at that!”

“Perfect. At last, a combined kitchen/diner. Seems weird, bashing down a wall in the house but this is gonna look great for when Billy and Sarah come round for dinner. They’ll ooh and aah!”

“Yep! What do the instructions say next?”

“Let’s see… prepare the areasmash wall with sledgehammer… turn the page, ah, yes… but first, check the wall is not load-bearing. What’s that, then?”

KerrrrrrASH! Cough cough splutter

Ding dong!

“Hi Billy, Sarah, great to see you! Please, come through to our ultra-modern state of the art open-air kitchen diner…”

“Ooh!”

“Aah!”

I’m one who rarely reads the instructions hahaha! I think every DIYer has had this happen at least once 😀

OK, I’ve just bashed down all of the walls in here… and it’s still not roomy enough! I guess I’ll start on the outside walls…

I enjoyed the way you turned around the change to an open air kitchen-diner, while retaining the Ooh! Aah! response.

Who reads instructions? Let’s hope it doesn’t rain before they get their dream building work repaired, besides people will get sick of BBQ’s.

Well, yes, maybe a roast hog over an open pit would be very rustic.

Knowing them it’s probably an accident involving a pet pot-bellied pig and their fireplace, though…

I actually know people who have done that. I had a father in law who was a construction engineer, so I learned early about “load-bearing walls,” but I could have been one of them. Ooh. Aah!

That’s creative thinking. Not sure it will work for the long-term. 😉 Funny.

Too funny… my father was told by a contractor he could remove a wall in the basement… Yeah. No. Funny how water would puddle in the middle of the living room when spilt…
