FF – Remember

Here is my contribution to Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Sandra Crook.

Well, a photo of a war memorial wasn’t quite the Santa picture I was hoping for. Not even a snowman 😦

This isn’t a story. I’m not sure what it is. Merry Christmas and whatnot!

For King and Country!

Remember.

For freedom!

Remember.

For the security of our country!

Remember.

For the betterment of Mankind!

Worthwhile causes all.

But always remember.

What it cost.

And the list of causes is not always entirely scrupuloously accurate

No. There’s what we’re told and the “other” reasons (WMDs anyone?).

    Dear Ali,

Short and to the point. Or should I say pointed. Well done and Merry Christmas. Perhaps next year I’ll post a picture of a Christmas tree. 😉

    Shalom,

      Dear Rochelle,
I’m glad you liked it, and I hope you had a happy holiday!
I vote for a Christmas tree next year so I can do a soppy Christmas tale 🙂

It rarely costs “them” as much, I think.

Maybe the memorials shouldn’t be beautiful but as hideous as possible? Whatever works to end the need for war.

Yes, I want to know how much of my tax money went to paying for this silly monument. Oh wait, you don’t mean THAT cost?

Ha, yes, I racked my brains for two days. I couldn’t really do an irreverent comedy about a war memorial.
I’m having a lovely Christmas, thanks, I hope you are too 🙂

It’s a lovely poem in honor of those who gave everything. They gave us the gift of peace on earth, at least for a while and in some places. —- Suzanne
