FF – Not as Clever as he Thought

Here is my contribution to Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Dale Rogerson.

Detective Inspector Bardon looked across the scene. Crisp, white, beautiful. Like a Christmas card. Idyllic – apart from the body, the red-tinged snow.

“Back wound. Murder definitely happened here. Knife was driven in at close range. Only one set of footprints – the victim’s! How?”

High above, Jimmy ‘Jetpack Assassin’ Jameson hovered and laughed. His web ad had paid off. Plenty of clients, police always baffled!

“Hey, guv, just found this ad on the internet. Some joker calling himself the ‘jetpack assassin’!”

“Jetpack? Of course! Constable, grab the newly-issued ground-to-air missile launcher out the car, will you?”

Jimmy’s eyes widened in horror.

Is he allowed to use a SAM on a suspect?

    Dear Ali,

Busted! Sounds like Jimmy’s goose is roasted and browned to a crisp. Good one.

      Dear Rochelle,
Yep, he fell into that “hanging around to see your handiwork” trap. And who knew the police now had guided missiles for just such an occasion? 🙂

It’s difficult to advertise your talents as an assassin without being discovered by the authorities!

It looks like Jimmy’s killing spree is coming to an end. It might be hard to find him here, there, and everywhere with all that snow. Get out the bloodhounds. Gruesome but funny dark humor, Ali. 😀 — Suzanne

He’ll certainly be here, there and everywhere after the missile hit. The problem with bloodhounds is they might eat the bits 🙂

I believe DI Bardon has requisitioned a jetpack of his very own! Heavily armed, of course.

I guess Jimmy got too cocky, shoulda parked the jetpack right away!

Yes, he should have been over the hills and far away by the time the police showed!

Suspect in the Christmas card stabbing death remains at large.

In other news, a passenger plane crashed under mysterious circumstances in the same neighborhood, killing all 357 on board and 35 on the ground. Witnesses included Detective Inspector Barton who, when asked if he saw how the plane crashed, merely shrugged his shoulders.
