FF – Ramblings from the Pub Part 2

Here is my contribution to Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. This week’s photo was contributed by Dawn Miller.

“Yeah, he had total tunnel vision.”

“Wow.”

“He couldn’t see anything unless it was right in front of his face.”

“Sounds nasty.”

“Yeah. The latest fad. Gym every night. Then no more gym. Night clubs every night. Then no more night clubs.”

“So what happened to him?”

“Hit by a bus. Never saw It coming. Very sad.”

“Very sad… sorry, I didn’t think you meant literal, medical tunnel vision.”

“What? No! Got obsessed with an online dating app. Head buried in his phone, didn’t like the look of someone, swiped left, BAM!”

“Karma.”

“Karma. Pint?”

“Yep.”

Ah, the sensation of laughing at something that maybe you shouldn’t be laughing at. But what the heck, it’s funny…and then sad…but funny.

😀 (Ashamed to be laughing so much at this!) I’m surprised more people are not run over by cars and buses as they are glued to their phones when crossing the road.

Me too. Many seem to have some sort of sixth sense, swerving around you on the pavement. It’s weird!

Not everyone swerves. I’ve been run into by pedestrians looking at their phones!

Serves him right really. It could happen to so many, I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often.

They probably don’t even notice when cars swerve into walls to avoid them…

Yes, I know about the tunnel vision. Although at the pub, I often see two of everything – except on her, she has four. Randy

Real karma would be if he got the opposite of tunnel vision and could only see out of his peripheral. Gonna be hard to look at those dating apps when you can’t see what’s right in front of you….

    Dear Ali,

Such a casual conversation about a tragic event. All too true to life in every aspect. Well done.

Yes, many people have become quite jaded and tragedies can become gossip fodder.

This was funny because of the dry way you delivered it!

Sad story, I shouldn’t laugh, but something about the telling cracked me up. I can’t believe it, another “tunnel vision” story! We all caught it, and we all told different stories.

It’s just a bit of pub gossip for these guys, so it’s all quite matter-of-fact 🙂
