FF – Of Men and Fridges

Here is my story for Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle. She also supplied the photo this week!

This one is so madcap crazy it made me smile 🙂 So don’t expect a deep and meaningful discourse on man’s ability to litter even the most picturesque of spots.

“Ah, walking in the woods, listening to the birds…”

THUMP!

“Well, what’re the odds?”

“Yeah, I know, right? We finally get out in the sunshine and a fridge falls on Roger. Must have fallen out a plane. I’d sue. Hey Roger, I’d sue!”

“I don’t think he can hear you. I wonder what’s inside?”

Creak

“Hey, it’s Roger!”

“Hi guys! The back of the fridge was missing, I ended up inside!”

“Well, that seems unlikely.”

“It does. I think we’re dreaming…”

Woo-ooo-ooo…

“Yep. We were dreaming. Roger’s been flattened alright. I can see his arm sticking out.”

“Well, shit.”

Well shit, indeed. Here I was thinking it was like those Charlie Chaplin movies where whatever falls just happens to have a window where he was standing…

Well, in their dream sequence the fridge was lacking a back. If it had been a Charlie Chaplin film that would maybe have been “for realsies” 🙂

    Dear Ali,

Guess it’s just not Roger’s day. Ya just never know when a refrigerator’s going to come out of nowhere. I shouldn’t laugh…I am of course.

    Shalom,

      Dear Rochelle,
He certainly beat the odds on this one! I seem to have got into a bit of a “squishing” theme these past couple of weeks 🙂

The question is… Was Roger dead or alive *before* they opened the box?

Exactly. They opened the door, collapsed the wave function and all the quantum probabilities converged to… dead. The bastards.

The luck of the draw I guess. It had to fall on someone.

Better flip that fridge over fast before some small child climbs inside and suffocates. We wouldn’t want this to turn tragic…

I bet once it’s flipped Roger will make an interesting stain on the back…

Oh, poor Roger. Seldom do people walk in the woods and have a fridge fall on them. You never see a sign saying “Watch out for falling fridges.” Good story, Ali. 😀 — Suzanne
